VTV Editor Hai Yen: My husband works for the government, not a tycoon

Making television is never boring.

- After more than 1 year of being the main host of Chuyen Dong 24h, has Hai Yen changed more now?

I find the job hasn’t changed much since I started. Even as I get more familiar with the job, I need to upgrade my skills and become more meticulous.

Every day is a new job, a new experience for me. I love my job so I don’t feel too much pressure. The interesting thing about this job is that you never do the same thing forever, there is always creativity and new projects. That is what makes my job always new and inspiring for me.

- Hai Yen is not pressured by the job that is said to have a lot of pressure?

Saying no is not true, people always say that pressure leads to success. But I always think that putting too much pressure on yourself cannot help you excel and be creative in your work. Up to now, after nearly 2 years of leading24h Movement, before going on air my heart was still beating fast, nervous as usual.

- If there is pressure at work, what exactly will it be for you?

I put pressure on myself to overcome my limits, not just in the style of presenting. I need to be good at both content and becoming a flexible editor, never saying no to assigned tasks. So this year, from being a news editor, I have the opportunity to become the MC of an entertainment program broadcast on VTV3.Surf on VTVgo. This was a new challenge that took me a long time to research. But seeing the positive comments, I was glad to have overcome my own barriers.

- When mentioning Hai Yen, many audiences affectionately call her the beauty of 24h Movement, not only a professional host but also very beautiful, what do you think about these reviews?

Someone really called me a beauty? Honestly, I'm afraid of public opinion. But when the audience commented like that, I was very happy.

- Many of your colleagues use their jobs to "polish" their names and look for many outside job opportunities, but it seems that Hai Yen is not like that. Is there a reason for that?

I don't want to be just an MC/BTV host. I want to do more than that. I entered the television industry late so I want to learn more. That's why I focus all my energy on this job. I'm also very introverted, I look like that on TV but in real life I'm quiet and not good at diplomacy so it's hard to find opportunities outside.

I also consider myself lucky to have come this far. So I just be happy with what I have and strive for more.

Husband is not a tycoon

- Is it true that Hai Yen is not under any economic pressure? Besides working in television, do you have any other side jobs?

I have financial pressure because I am a mother. Before working in television, I did everything, from trading to manual labor. I studied hotel management, so I did not mind manual labor. After 5 years like that, I also saved up a few things to run it myself and have some extra income.

As for income, it's huge, honestly I don't know what is enough but I feel satisfied with my life at the moment.

- Many people guess that Hai Yen's husband is a secret tycoon so her life is very leisurely, is that true?

My husband is not a rich man. We are about the same age. He works for the government. We are both young so we always try to work together.

- If you follow, you will see that Hai Yen has a balanced life between work and family, has a lot of time for herself and her family, what is the secret?

Actually, when I am having a hard time or facing difficulties, I do not share them on social networks. I even rarely share much about my work on Facebook. I want to live a quiet, peaceful life, enjoying everything to the fullest. As for how I go to work, everyone who watches TV knows.

- It seems like you are a person who separates work and personal life. Is that why you are not afraid to express your personality on social networks, without fear of being judged or gossiped about by others?

Actually, how I live is the same on social networks. I just feel like everyone knows my job, so I want to share a little more about my life and personal interests. I want people to know me more closely. Besides the serious moments when I'm on the news, I'm also playful, humorous, have a dynamic, youthful style, am passionate about the gym and love myself very much.

- And it seems like you are a persistent person, love to exercise to keep in shape?

Since I was a child, I have always taken great care of my appearance. I am a very meticulous person, knowing how I look the most beautiful. I exercise because I see that I look better after exercising, and I want to be beautiful, so I have to persevere. I have become addicted to exercising for a long time, and if I stop for a few days, I worry that I will become ugly.

- With the MC profession, how far do you want to go?

I haven't thought that far yet. I just know that for now I'll just try my best, do well what I'm assigned and strive to improve myself more.

I have never created a fixed image for myself. I always live as myself, hoping that people will feel the positive, genuine, and simple energy from me.

Besides work, I have a passion and hobby to pursue to make life more fun and less stressful. I find it important to be happy and joyful.
