(Baonghean.vn) -In spite ofThere has been a clean water project in the hamlet for 15 years now, with wells, but 40/247 households in Ke Mui hamlet (Giai Xuan commune, Tan Ky, Nghe An) are still in a miserable situation due to lack of domestic water.
Every year from March to July, the wells in Ke Mui, Giai Xuan, and Tan Ky begin to dry up. Many families have to use cans and buckets to ask for water from neighboring households, even though there has been a project to build water tanks to serve the people for many years. |
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Trung, 59 years old (Ke Mui hamlet) shared: For the past 10 years, from around March to July every year, my family has had to go ask for water from neighboring houses. Many times, when I come home late from work, there is no water, but I have to endure it because I am embarrassed and afraid of disturbing others. This is the common situation of 40/247 households in Ke Mui hamlet. |
When the sky signals rain, people bring out buckets, basins, even pots and pans to catch the rainwater. |
Although there has been a project to build water tanks to serve people for more than 15 years, after nearly 1 year of use, water has not returned to 8 tanks. |
Currently, these 8 water tanks are full of trash and have exposed bottoms. |
The bottom of the tank becomes a place for garbage and dry leaves. |
According to local people, after less than a year of use, the faucets were rusted, stolen, and damaged. |
Next to Ke Mui hamlet there are also 7 water tanks but the situation seems to be the opposite. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ly (Long Tho hamlet) said, "We have to use sticks to plug the broken water taps but it still doesn't work." In the photo, water flows wastefully every day. |
