Public schools in Nghe An announce enrollment targets for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year
The enrollment quota for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year of public schools is basically the same as the previous school year. This is good news for candidates, especially in the context of a significant decrease in the number of candidates taking the exam.
According to the plan, from May 7 to 13, students across the province will register for the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. According to the Department of Education and Training, the number of 9th graders in the 2025-2026 school year is 46,845, a decrease of 6,959 compared to the 2024-2025 school year.
However, according to the forecast of the Department of Education and Training, only about 40,000 students will take the 10th grade entrance exam in the 2025-2026 school year, a decrease of about 4,000 students compared to the 2024-2025 exam.

Although the number of students has decreased dramatically, according to the enrollment announcements of schools, this year's enrollment targets have not changed much. Specifically, in the 2025-2026 school year, Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Vinh City) plans to enroll 23Grade 10with a target of 1,010 students. Of which, 18 classes implement the 2018 General Education Program with a target of 810 students. In addition, the school continues to enroll 5 advanced classes following the international integration trend with a target of 200 students.
At Ha Huy Tap High School and Le Viet Thuat High School (Vinh City), according to the newly announced announcement, the schools still maintain the enrollment target of 18 classes with 810 students in traditional classes. In addition, each school will enroll 2 advanced classes.
Previously, each year these schools had about more than 1,000 students registering for the exam. With the number of students in the whole city decreasing by more than 2,000 students compared to the previous school year, it is expected that admission to public schools in Vinh city is now easier and the competition rate will certainly not be as "tight" as in previous years.

Due to the decrease in the number of students taking the exam, along with the admission announcement, many schools have also predicted the admission rate for students. Specifically, at Kim Lien High School (Nam Dan), the school will enroll 11 classes with 495 students in the 2025-2026 school year. To help parents and students have an objective view, the school has conducted a survey of students across the district and widely informed schools.
Specifically, according to statistics, this year, Nam Dan district has 2,092 ninth graders, a decrease of more than 500 students compared to the previous school year. Currently, Nam Dan district has 3 public schools with more than 1,500 quotas. If we subtract the number of students in the streaming category (with more than 700 students), the admission rate will reach over 90%.
In Thanh Chuong district, the expected quota of 7 public high schools in the district will be equivalent to the total number of current 9th grade students. Therefore, except for students who pass the entrance exam to specialized schools and ethnic boarding schools in Vinh city, some students go to vocational schools, the rest will have the opportunity to enter 10th grade.

Along with the announcement of the quota, the Department of Education and Training has recently announced the enrollment quota for ethnic minority schools for students from 12 mountainous districts or districts with ethnic minority students in the province. Of which, the most prioritized locality is Ky Son district with 82 students. The locality with the least is Quynh Luu district with a quota of 2 students for 2 provincial ethnic minority high schools and Ethnic Minority Boarding High School No. 2.
Although the number of candidates will decrease in the 2025-2026 school year, the industry's view is not to reduce the enrollment quota for public grade 10. Thereby, it aims to reduce pressure on candidates, especially when this is the first exam implemented according to the 2018 General Education Program. In addition, keeping the quota unchanged also aims to stabilize the size of schools and the teaching staff of the schools.
