How to fill in information for students who get extra points in the National High School Exam
The priority points in the National High School Exam are divided into many different subjects, so candidates need to study carefully to fill in the exam registration form.
The Ministry of Education and Training has just answered questions from candidates about adding priority points and how to fill in information on the 2017 National High School Exam Registration Form.
Accordingly, students who are entitled to priority treatment or not in the consideration of high school graduation recognition are divided into the following groups: Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3.
Area 1:No bonus points, are normal candidates; (Symbol: D1)
Area 2:Add 0.25 points for candidates belonging to one of the following categories:
War invalids, sick soldiers, people who enjoy policies like war invalids, sick soldiers with labor capacity loss under 81% (only with GDTX); Children of war invalids, sick soldiers, people who enjoy policies like war invalids, sick soldiers with labor capacity loss under 81%; Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor; (Symbol: D2-TB2).
- Children of People's Armed Forces Heroes, Labor Heroes, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (Symbol: D2-CAH)
- Ethnic minorities; (Symbol: D2-TS2)
- Kinh people, foreigners residing in Vietnam with permanent residence registration for 3 years or more (as of the exam date) in extremely disadvantaged communes, border communes, safe zone communes under the investment program 135; in extremely disadvantaged communes in coastal and island areas according to current regulations of the Prime Minister; in extremely disadvantaged villages, communes in regions I, II, III in ethnic and mountainous areas according to current regulations of the Ethnic Committee, studying at general schools not located in inner-city districts of centrally-run cities for at least 2/3 of the time studying at high school level; (Symbol: D2-VS2)
- People infected with Agent Orange; children of people infected with Agent Orange; children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals; people recognized by competent authorities as having deformities, disabilities, or reduced self-reliance in daily life or work due to the consequences of toxic chemicals; (Symbol: D2-CHH)
- Children of revolutionary activists before the August 19, 1945 General Uprising (for GDTX);(Symbol: D2-CCM)
- Age 35 or older, as of the exam date; (Symbol: D2-T35).

Area 3:Add 0.5 points for candidates belonging to one of the following categories:
- Ethnic minorities, with permanent residence in extremely disadvantaged communes, border communes, and safe zone communes under the investment program 135; in extremely disadvantaged communes in coastal and island areas according to current regulations of the Prime Minister; in extremely disadvantaged villages, communes in regions I, II, III in ethnic and mountainous areas according to current regulations of the Ethnic Committee, studying at ethnic boarding schools or general schools not located in inner-city districts of centrally-run cities; (Symbol: D3-TS3)
- War invalids, sick soldiers, people enjoying policies like war invalids and sick soldiers with reduced working capacity of 81% or more (for GDTX); (Symbol: D3-TB3)
- Children of martyrs; children of war invalids and sick soldiers; people who enjoy the same policies as war invalids and sick soldiers and have a working capacity reduction of 81% or more; (Symbol: D3-CLS)
It is especially important to note that students with multiple priority criteria will only benefit from the highest criteria.
Candidates who win provincial and national prizes will receive bonus points.
Bonus points are added to candidates with foreign language and information technology certificates (for continuing education candidates) and vocational certificates, and individual and collective awards in international competitions and national and provincial competitions for excellent students.
1. Won individual prize in the 12th grade cultural subject excellent student contest:
- First, second, third prize at national level or first prize at provincial level: 2.0 points.
- National consolation prize or provincial second prize: 1.5 points.
- Third prize at provincial level: 1.0 point.
2.Winning individual and team prizes in practical experiments in Physics, Chemistry, Biology; art competitions; physical education and sports; national defense education sports; science and technology competitions; international letter writing competitions organized by the Education sector in coordination with specialized sectors from provincial level and above at high school level:
- Winning first, second, third national prizes or first provincial prizes or Gold Medal: 2.0 points.
- National encouragement prize or provincial second prize or Silver Medal: 1.5 points.
- Third prize at provincial level or Bronze Medal: 1.0 point.
* Team prizes are only counted for national prizes, the additional points are the same as individual prizes.
* Students who win multiple prizes will only receive the bonus points of the highest prize.
3.Certified:
- Excellent: 2.0 points.
- Fair: 1.5 points.
- Average: 1.0 point.
4.If GDTX students have a Foreign Language A or Information Technology A certificate or higher (including technicians): 1.0 point will be added for each type of certificate.
* Maximum incentive points for items 1,2,3,4 above are not more than 4.0 points.
The incentive points specified in items 1,2,3,4 above are reserved for the entire grade level.
Priority points are awarded based on subject and region.
To learn more about the bonus points, candidates can refer to Article 36 of the National High School Examination Regulations and the High School Graduation Recognition Regulations, which stipulates in detail the priority areas and the bonus points. When registering for graduation recognition, candidates need to fill in information about the priority regime (priority areas and bonus points) in sections 11 and 12 of the High School Graduation Recognition Registration Form.
Priority in admission includes priority by region and priority by subject as specified in Article 7 of the Regulations on admission to full-time university and college for full-time teacher training groups. When registering for the exam, candidates fill in information about priority in admission in sections 17 and 18 of the National High School Exam Registration Form and University and College Admission Form.
Regarding priority areas and priority subjects, every year there are candidates who file complaints. Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Education and Training noted that currently, the addition of priority points in admission includes: Priority by subject and priority by region. In the Admission Regulations, the Admissions Guidelines have provided regulations on the evidence required to enjoy priority by subject; the list of communes and wards enjoying regional priority has been publicly announced on the Ministry's information portal, candidates can refer to it.
Thus, before filling in information about admission priorities, candidates need to read the above documents carefully. In addition, the Ministry's management system has the function of reviewing priority policies for subjects. If candidates fill in incorrect information, the system will automatically adjust it to the correct level. Therefore, when candidates receive a printed copy of their exam registration and admission results, they need to review it carefully before signing the confirmation./.
