Tan Ky oranges and chicken eggs are recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards.
(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing the One Commune One Product program, Tan Ky district has had 2 products, oranges in Tan Phu commune and chicken eggs in Nghia Hoan commune, recognized as meeting 3-star provincial standards.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha's family in Tan Xuan hamlet, Tan Phu commune has 1 hectare of oranges that are 4 to 5 years old. In 2019, although it was only the second year of fruiting, the orange tree brought the family 200 million VND. To ensure that the oranges meet theOCOP standard, her family has followed clean production processes.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha shared. “The family uses all homemade organic fertilizers to prevent pests. In particular, the family does not spray chemicals but composts things like garlic, chili, fish... and sprays them regularly after a few months...”.

Orange is a traditional crop, also a key crop in Tan Phu commune, Tan Ky district, helping people have a stable income, becoming well-off and rich households.
Implementing the OCOP program, Tan Ky district has directed the selection of oranges as a product to build a brand on an area of 30 hectares at the Song Con clean orange cooperative in Tan Xuan hamlet with the participation of 25 households.
Thanks to the production process ensuring quality products, in February 2020, Tan Phu oranges were recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a 3-star OCOP product when participating in the One Commune One Product program of Nghe An province in 2019.

In 2019, Tan Ky district had 4 products participating in the OCOP program, of which 2 products, oranges in Tan Phu commune and chicken eggs in Nghia Hoan commune, were recognized as meeting 3-star provincial standards, thereby helping the locality affirm its product brand.
The egg-laying hen model of Mr. Cao Van Cuong in Dong Tam hamlet, Nghia Hoan commune has been recognized as meeting the 3-star OCOP standard at the provincial level, so currently the family sells an average of over 2,000 eggs to the market every day. With a selling price of 3,000 VND per egg, it brings in a revenue of 6 million VND/day.

Currently,Tan Ky districtis selecting a number of key products with strengths and characteristics to orient development into OCOP products, phase 2019 - 2020 including: fermented leaf wine of Tan Hop highland commune; wine from Tien Ky and Dong Van remote communes; molasses of Phu Son and Tan Huong communes; honey of Nghia Binh commune; green eggplant of Giai Xuan commune; Polygonum multiflorum honey pills and Thien An turmeric starch pills.
To develop products, Tan Ky District People's Committee focuses on professional training, supporting label design, printing packaging labels and supporting traceability of each product. Prioritizing the completion and standardization of existing products, especially the two products of molasses and honey that have been produced according to VietGAP standards since 2019 but have not been recognized, and continuing to research and develop new products in localities throughout the district.
Implementing the program of one product per commune, the department has advised the district People's Committee to direct the People's Committees of communes to register and strive for the target that each commune will have at least one product according to VietGAP standards by the end of 2020. Currently, some products have completed traceability, it is expected that by the end of 2020, Tan Ky will have 9 products recognized as meeting standards of 3 stars or higher.
