Special design helps bring more natural light into the living space.
The white house is lower than the surrounding houses but the usable area inside is not small. |
The 3-storey house with a total area of 52 m2 in Dam Loc, Hai Duong, stands out from the two adjacent houses with its unique design and white paint. The project, carried out by architect Le Quang Vinh and his colleagues in 2017, is typical of the Vietnamese tube house style. The house is 4m wide, 13m long and, according to the familiar design, the staircase is located in the middle. The first floor includes a garage, living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom.
The advantage of this design is to maximize the usable space. However, it also has disadvantages such as the garage sharing the same floor with the remaining rooms, requiring carefulness in ensuring hygiene and reducing the "luxury" of the room.
Although the front of the house uses doors and decorative bricks to maximize natural light, the kitchen and toilet at the end of the room are still dark. The homeowner must use lighting regularly.
The direction of the stairs was changed to save space and create an area for planting trees and raising fish.
Green trees are grown indoors, creating a feeling of closeness to nature. |
The living room of the house is inspired by the peaceful scenery of a Vietnamese village (the village gate has a big tree and a small game shop where guests stop or where people gather after work to talk about life, work and where children sit and play).
Dining room for 4 people with chairs designed to bring comfort when eating or reading, watching fish swimming and trees.
The 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms with lots of natural light and windows that can be opened to view the trees in front.

The third floor is a worship room and a working area filled with greenery and sunlight. The exterior facade of the house uses ventilation bricks - a popular type in the 80s and 90s. These bricks are made of concrete. Using these bricks can still block the rain, but the outstanding advantage is that they collect natural light, creating a special lighting effect when viewed from the inside out.
The architectural change of the house compared to the familiar tube house designs has brought emotional experiences to the homeowner. The cost to build this house is about 700 million VND.
