Urgent need to restore comrade Nguyen Duy Trinh's memorial house
As one of the main items of the Nguyen Duy Trinh memorial project, the Nguyen Duy Trinh memorial house is currently severely damaged in the roof. Although the comrade’s family and clan have petitioned the authorities at all levels, the project has not yet been repaired in time.
ProjectMemorial area of comrade Nguyen Duy Trinhin Phuc Tho commune, Nghi Loc district, approved by the Provincial People's Committee for investment in 2013, started construction in October 2014, inaugurated and put into use in August 2018, including main items: memorial house, guest house and memorial house.

In particular, the memorial house category was restored from the childhood house of comrade Nguyen Duy Trinh, with the traditional architecture of the North Central region, with 5 rooms. The structure includes a system of columns, beams, rafters, purlins, and battens made of wood, the surrounding walls are made of odd-sized sandalwood, and the roof is thatched with grass.

However, after a period of use, the thatched roof of the memorial house has now seriously deteriorated. Observation from inside the memorial house shows that all the rooms have holes in the roof, the most serious being the two rooms at the gable end with large patches of thatched grass that have "flown" away. Looking from the outside, many parts of the roof, especially the back roof, have rotted and are difficult to withstand heavy rains or storms.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tinh (born in 1950), residing in Hamlet 8, Phuc Tho Commune (Nghi Loc) - a member of the Nguyen Dinh family, the next generation of comrade Nguyen Duy Trinh, who was assigned to look after the memorial site, the thatched roof is at high risk of fire during the hot season, and is also rotten, severely damaged, and leaking in many places, affecting the beam and rafters system and artifacts and items displayed in the house.

Since 2020, the family and clan of comrade Nguyen Duy Trinh have requested three times to switch to tile roofing to ensure the safety and durability of the house as well as to be consistent with the existing structure of the house. However, to date, the replacement of thatched roofs with tile roofs has not been implemented by relevant authorities.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ty (born in 1953), residing in Quan Hanh town, Nghi Loc district - nephew of comrade Nguyen Duy Trinh, said: “On May 23, at the 12th session, the People's Council of Nghi Loc district, term XII, passed a Resolution approving the investment policy for works and projects in the district, including the project "Replacing thatched roofs with tiled roofs and repairing some items of the memorial house of comrade Nguyen Duy Trinh in Phuc Tho commune, Nghi Loc district". Accordingly, the rafters of the memorial house will be reinforced, the thatched roof will be demolished and covered with yin-yang tiles; some bamboo curtains in front of the house and some damaged items will be replaced and repaired. The total investment of the project is 700 million VND from the district budget and other legal sources of capital.
However, after more than 4 months since the Resolution was issued, it was not until yesterday morning (September 25) that the representative of the project investor, the Nghi Loc District Construction Investment Project Management Board, contacted the family and clan of comrade Nguyen Duy Trinh to survey the implementation of the project. If the roof is not replaced urgently, the memorial house of comrade Nguyen Duy Trinh will face the risk of serious damage in the stormy weather conditions that are forecast to develop complicatedly in the coming time.
