Canada returns Nord Stream turbines to Germany
(Baonghean.vn) - According to Russia's TASS news agency, the country's Gazprom gas company was forced to reduce the supply of natural gas via the Nord Stream pipeline to a lower level than planned. The reason was the delay in returning gas compressors after repairs by Siemens and technical problems with the engines.

This source said on July 10, according to The Globe and Mail newspaper, Canadian Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said that the country will return to Germany a repaired Siemens turbine serving the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
“Canada will issue a limited-term, revocable license to Siemens Canada to facilitate the return to Germany of repaired Nord Stream 1 turbines, supporting Europe’s access to reliable and affordable energy as it continues to shift away from Russian oil and gas,” Wilkinson said in a statement on July 9, according to the newspaper.
“Without the necessary supply of natural gas, the German economy would face great difficulties and Germans themselves would be at risk of not being able to keep their homes warm when winter comes,” the official noted.
Earlier, on June 14, Russian gas company Gazprom said it was forced to reduce natural gas supplies via the Nord Stream pipeline to a lower level than planned due to delays in returning gas compressors after repairs by Siemens and technical problems with the engines.
Energy company Siemens says one of its gas turbines cannot be returned to Germany from Montreal due to Canadian sanctions against Russia.
As a result, gas flows through Nord Stream are limited to 40% of maximum capacity.
