Warning about the trick of inviting tourists to sell poor quality products
(Baonghean.vn) - In Nghe An, some companies have appeared inviting veteran members to travel for free. But the essence behind these invitations is a trick of selling high-priced, low-quality products.
In Hung Nguyen district, on the morning of August 24, more than 100 veteran members of the district participated in a free tour at Dong Loc intersection (Can Loc district, Ha Tinh) sponsored by a company headquartered in Hanoi.
According to a veteran who participated in the trip, after taking the members back from the Dong Loc junction, the company treated them to lunch. Once the members were seated, the company staff began to introduce products such as gas stoves, water purifiers, and water fans. However, because the members had already been informed, no one bought anything.

In fact, not only in Hung Nguyen but also in Vinh City and Hoang Mai Town, there have appeared some companies coming to the grassroots to invite veteran members to travel. The destination of this tour program is Dong Loc Intersection, the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap...
Previously, on August 23, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ben Thuy Ward (Vinh City) requested the Ward Veterans Association to cancel the "free" tour offered by a travel company.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc - Chairman of Ben Thuy Ward People's Committee said that after reading information on the media about some travel companies organizing free tours, in fact to lure veterans to buy high-priced goods, and receiving instructions from Vinh City People's Committee, he immediately directed to cancel the above tour.
To warn people to avoid the above situation, on August 22, Nghe An Department of Tourism issued Official Dispatch No. 989 to the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns regarding coordination to rectify tourism activities in the province.
The document clearly states: “Recently, in some provinces and cities, illegal travel companies have appeared, defrauding people of sightseeing, vacationing, and pilgrimage through cheap tours, free tours... with multi-level marketing tricks or inviting people to buy goods at high prices... causing outrage among public opinion and the people...”.
Nghe An Department of Tourism recommends that localities, organizations, schools and people be vigilant or not participate in cheap travel programs, free tours, multi-level tourism... offered by organizations and individuals operating illegally or underground.
When discovering organizations or individuals operating illegal or fraudulent tourism activities that disrupt security and order in the area, affecting the health and property of people and tourists, it is necessary to notify the authorities for handling.

On August 23, the Nghe An Province Veterans Association also issued Official Letter 146/CV-CCB to the Standing Committee of the Veterans Association of districts, cities and towns. The Official Letter stated: Currently, there are some businesses that, in the name of gratitude to veterans, invite them to free tours, but in fact, there have been cases of suggesting the purchase of poor quality goods at prices that do not match their value. It is recommended that units thoroughly inform the association's facilities not to organize for members to participate in the above activities.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tran - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Association of War Veterans, the Provincial Association has not received any official feedback on the above issue, but through many sources of information, some members have discussed over the phone and learned that this situation has appeared in Nghe An. Therefore, the Provincial Association issued an official dispatch requesting that association bases not organize for members to participate in the above activities.
“From the Central Association to the Provincial Association, there is no such policy, so some grassroots associations let their members go spontaneously. This is actually because the members at the grassroots level do not fully understand the nature of the activities of these companies, and agree to participate based on flowery words. We will continue to direct grassroots associations to seriously implement this issue,” said Mr. Tran.
