Warning: Quynh Luu has 2 outbreaks of H5N1
(Baonghean.vn) - Duck farms in Quynh My and Quynh Hoa communes affected by the H5N1 epidemic have been given 50,000 doses of vaccine to vaccinate poultry to prevent the spread of the disease.
Previously, on April 6, Mr. Vo Van Dan (Hamlet 4, Quynh Hoa) discovered that his family's flock of ducks had signs of watery eyes, standing in one place, ruffled feathers and gradually dying. Upon discovering the incident, Mr. Dan reported it to the commune veterinary officer to take preventive measures.

Upon receiving the information from the facility, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the District Veterinary Station came to inspect and reported to the Provincial Veterinary Department to take samples from the ducks for testing. The test results showed that Mr. Dan's flock of ducks tested positive for avian influenza (H5N1). On the evening of April 7, the authorities went to Mr. Dan's family's farm to collect the ducks for destruction. The total flock of ducks that Mr. Dan's family had to destroy was 700.
On the morning of April 9 and 10, the Quynh Luu District Veterinary Station sent staff to the locality to coordinate with the Quynh Hoa Commune Veterinary Board to vaccinate and prevent avian influenza in the epidemic area and areas subject to vaccination.
Mr. Lich, a veterinary officer of Quynh Hoa commune, said: After receiving instructions from the district veterinary station and the commune People's Committee, we have counted the total poultry herd; requested people not to transport poultry to other places for consumption, clean the barns, disinfect, and avoid spreading the disease. Currently, we are focusing on people going to each household to vaccinate and disinfect.

Quynh Hoa commune currently has more than 10,000 poultry, including 8,500 ducks and more than 1,500 chickens. Up to now, duck farms near the epidemic area have vaccinated 100%; hamlets in the epidemic area are currently being visited by district veterinary station and commune veterinary board staff to vaccinate and disinfect. Households raising livestock are also actively preventing the epidemic by sprinkling lime powder and not transporting poultry to other places.
According to statistics, from April 6 to 8, in Quynh Luu district, there were 2 outbreaks of H5N1 flu at the household of Mr. Vo Van Dan (Hamlet 4, Quynh Hoa) and Mr. Tang Van Hoan (Hamlet 6, Quynh My), the number of poultry that had to be destroyed was 688.

Mr. Dau Dang Dinh - Head of Quynh Luu District Veterinary Station said: In response to the above incident, the district veterinary station has reported to the District People's Committee and the Provincial Veterinary Department to request H5N1 influenza vaccine to vaccinate poultry in the epidemic area. As of the morning of April 10, about 20,000 doses of H5N1 influenza vaccine have been vaccinated for poultry in Quynh My and Quynh Hoa communes. To fully vaccinate the remaining poultry flocks that need to be vaccinated, we are requesting an additional 30,000 doses of vaccine, which are currently being transported. In addition to vaccination, we continue to spray disinfectants in epidemic areas, village roads, alleys, and each poultry farming household.
