Nghe An Police and 10 days of searching for murderer on the run for 11 years

According to the case file of the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police, in the summer of 11 years ago (afternoon of July 21, 2009), due to a previous conflict, when they learned that Mr. Thach Quang Vu (born in 1975), residing in Hamlet 9, Nghi Truong, Nghi Loc, Nghe An, was drinking beer at Ms. Le Thi Huong's house, the neighbors, the group of Thach Quang Thai, Hoang Van Bang, Hoang Van Trung and 4 other subjects invited each other to Ms. Huong's house to meet Mr. Vu.

Before leaving, Thai ordered his accomplices to get swords, Trung and two other subjects went to get knives, then the whole group went to Ms. Huong's house, using knives to repeatedly slash Mr. Vu and Mr. Hai (Ms. Huong's husband). As a result, Mr. Vu died and Mr. Hai was seriously injured. After committing the crime, the subjects were arrested and surrendered, but Hoang Van Trung fled the area.

The murder case shocked public opinion at that time, causing great confusion and indignation among the people. On July 27, 2009, the Nghe An Police Department issued a nationwide wanted notice for Hoang Van Trung.

At the time of the murder, Trung had just been released from prison. Previously, Trung was sentenced to 3 years in prison by the People's Court of Nghe An province for "violating regulations on road traffic participation". Being a reckless subject and having many relationships with many notorious criminals during the time of serving his sentence, after escaping, Trung used his social relationships to hide in the North and South, hiding in different localities and cutting off all contact with his family and relatives, making the verification work very difficult.

Over the past 10 years, the Criminal Police Department has organized many manhunts but without results. However, these difficulties could not dampen the will of the soldiers who were searching for him; on the contrary, they had to do everything they could to find Hoang Van Trung's hiding place.

In early 2020, the Wanted and Search Team of the Criminal Police Department collected valuable information about the subject Hoang Van Trung. Trung was married to a woman named Lien, from Nam Dinh. Through verification, the woman from Nghia Hung district, Nam Dinh province married a man from Nghe An but no one knew about the husband. Currently, the couple is in the pharmacy business, living in Thinh Liet ward, Hoang Mai district, Hanoi city.

After obtaining important information, the Criminal Police Department urgently deployed professional measures to search for Trung's residence in Hanoi. However, with his cunning, Trung created a perfect cover for himself at his place of residence. The pharmacy Trung and his wife hired sales staff, Trung rarely came here, the people living nearby only knew that he was a tall, big, rough man who often rode a large motorbike.

Faced with this situation, the task force continued to persistently monitor and use a series of professional measures to verify the subject. With the coordination of Thanh Xuan District Police, the task force found the residence of Trung's family. Through verification, the subject Hoang Van Trung had relationships with prominent criminal subjects in the area. The police also collected evidence that the subject had signs of loan sharking activities in the seafood market area of ​​Long Bien District. Therefore, approaching and arresting the subject will be extremely difficult, not excluding the possibility that the subject was carrying a firearm with him.

On the afternoon of April 23, after asking for instructions from the unit's leaders, a working group of 10 officers from the Criminal Police Department and Thanh Xuan District Police secretly approached Trung's house in Group 39, Thinh Liet Ward, Hoang Mai District. The moment Trung opened the door to leave the house, the working group rushed in to arrest and restrain the subject. At the police station, faced with clear evidence, Hoang Van Trung bowed his head and admitted his guilt, ending his 11-year journey of hiding.
