Spanish media reported that attackers in Cambrils used a truck to ram into a crowd on the street in the early morning of August 18 (local time), injuring many people. This attack is said to be a "reenactment" of the attack in Las Ramblas, Barcelona, a few hours earlier.

In the Las Ramblas incident, terrorists also used a truck to attack people on the street. Spanish police said they had arrested two suspects but none of them were the truck driver.

The terrorist organization IS has claimed responsibility for the attack in Las Ramblas, saying it was “carried out by IS fighters” without providing any evidence.

In another development, Spanish police shot dead a driver who rammed into police officers at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Barcelona. However, Spanish authorities said there was no evidence that he was linked to the Las Ramblas incident.

Spanish police also released a photo of a young man named Driss Oubakir - the person whose name was on the papers to rent the truck that carried out the terrorist attack in Las Ramblas. Accordingly, this young man is about 20 years old, born in Morocco. However, Driss Oubakir has turned himself in to the police and said that he had nothing to do with this attack and that his papers were stolen./.
