Urgent waste treatment plant project in Tan Ky

For a long time, peopleTan Ky district, especially households living near the district's landfill area (Valley 70 of Tan Long commune) are upset because it has not been treated for a long time, causing environmental pollution.

According to PV's observation, the area containingwasteAt present, Valley 70 stretches hundreds of meters, piled up to 2-3 meters high, estimated to be thousands of m³. Due to not being treated for a long time, it causes air and water pollution.

Local residents say that every day dozens of trucks transport waste from other communes here and dump it haphazardly. Because it has not been treated for a long time, the amount of waste has increased. When it rains, black water flows from the waste area into streams and creeks; every year when the locality treats it by burning it, the smoldering smoke lasts for a whole month, affecting the air environment.

People's wish is that local authorities regularly handle the waste, or that the State soon invests in building waste treatment plants to avoidenvironmental pollution.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tan Ky district said: Thung 70 of Tan Long commune is the district's waste storage area, so every day, localities transport waste here to dump. While the district assigned Tan Long commune to handle it manually, but due to the large volume, there was a long-term congestion.

Faced with that urgent situation, after the proposal of Tan Ky district, on November 17, 2020, the Provincial People's Committee approved the policy of building the Tan Ky solid and liquid waste treatment plant project in Tan Long commune, with a planning area of ​​more than 33,492 m², total project capital 158 billion VND.

Of this planned area, there are more than 33,333 m²is perennial crop land, 5% public land managed by Tan Long Commune People's Committee, has been assigned to 4 households for production. The remaining area is more than 159 m²managed by Tan Long Commune People's Committee.

Accordingly, Tan Ky District People's Committee has a compensation and support plan.land clearanceAccording to State regulations to implement the investment project to build a solid and liquid waste treatment plant in Tan Ky district for a recovered land area of ​​more than 33,492 m²is more than 2 billion 117 million VND. This compensation and support plan for site clearance has been appraised by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. On April 28, 2022, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment sent a document to the Provincial People's Committee regarding the appraisal of the compensation and support plan when reclaiming land to implement the project of building a solid and liquid waste treatment plant in Tan Long commune, Tan Ky district. Currently, Tan Ky district is waiting for the Provincial People's Committee to approve the compensation and support plan for land acquisition to implement the project.

DUp to now, 3/4 households have agreed to the State's compensation and support plan; there is still 1 household that has not agreed. After the Provincial People's Committee approves the compensation and support plan for land acquisition for this project, Tan Ky district will have a solution to acquire land for the remaining households to soon implement the project.
