Slow to repair domestic water works in Hua Na Hydropower resettlement area

Community water is the most essential need for resettled people, so immediately after resettled people moved to their new homes, Hua Na Hydropower Joint Stock Company invested in building self-flowing community water works to meet the people's water needs. All 13/13 resettlement sites of Hua Na Hydropower have self-flowing water works.

However, after a period of use, most of the community water works at 13 resettlement sites of Hua Na Hydropower Plant are no longer usable. The reasons are due to many factors, including subjective factors such as inappropriate design and poor construction quality.

Mr. Le Van Giap - Chairman of Que Phong District People's Committee said: In September 2017, the District People's Committee issued a document requesting the investor, Hua Na Hydropower Joint Stock Company, to coordinate with the locality to re-survey all community water works at 13 resettlement sites of Hua Na Hydropower Plant to fix, repair and hand over for the last time to the people for self-management and use.

The survey showed that 9 projects were degraded and damaged; 4 projects were in stable operation. Immediately after that, the investor repaired 2 projects in Pieng Cu village, Huoi Siu - Huoi Lan. Thus, 5 projects still need to be repaired and some items repaired. 2 projects in Huoi Dua village and Huoi Duoc - Huoi Man have been completely without water for many years now.

Faced with that urgent situation, the People's Committee of Que Phong district requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct Hua Na Hydropower Joint Stock Company to continue to allocate funds to continue to repair and make final repairs at community water works at Hua Na Hydropower resettlement sites, especially at the two sites of Huoi Dua (Thong Thu) and Huoi Duoc - Huoi Man (Dong Van).
