Child with critical lime burns needs help
(Baonghean.vn) - Bui Nhat Linh (born 2015) fell into a lime pit, suffered burns to 86% of his body, and is currently in critical condition at the Emergency Resuscitation Department, National Institute of Burns (Hanoi).
At 9:00 a.m. on February 28, Linh's mother, Le Thi Hoa (born 1984), in Thuan Loi village, Quynh Thuan commune (Quynh Luu), was grinding lime to make salt pans. Nhat Linh was playing nearby and fell into the boiling lime pit.
Hearing her child's scream, Ms. Hoa looked over and saw her child fall into the hole. She panicked and reached down to pull her child up. Ms. Hoa's entire right arm was burned and the skin was peeling off.
Immediately, Linh was taken to Quynh Thach Hospital (Quynh Luu) for first aid, including applying bandages, administering pain-relieving fluids, and injecting anti-inflammatory antibiotics. Afterwards, the hospital's ambulance promptly took her to the National Institute of Burns for treatment. At 3 p.m. on February 28, Linh was taken to the emergency room with 86% burns, with a very poor prognosis.

Baby Nhat Linh suffered severe burns and is currently in critical condition at the National Institute of Burns (Hanoi). |
Nhat Linh is in the emergency room, isolated in a special sterile environment, breathing weakly. According to the treating doctor, her face, arms, back, abdomen, and thighs were burned to the point where all the skin had been stripped off. Her heart, liver, lungs, and vision were severely damaged. If she survives, the costs of the next surgeries will be very high.
Standing by her child, seeing only his entire body covered in white bandages, Ms. Hoa cried out in pain, her heart aching. She did not dare to take her eyes off the oxygen device for even a second, partly because she was worried about her child, and partly because she was tormented by poverty. Her child was already 2 and a half years old but she did not have enough money to send him to school… and was careless so that now her child had to endure so much pain, his life was in danger.
Ms. Hoa has 3 children, Bui Viet Anh (born 2008) is studying in grade 4 at Quynh Thuan Primary School, the second child Bui Viet Nhat (born 2014) is studying at Quynh Thuan Kindergarten. Linh is the youngest child, when Linh was 3 months old, her husband passed away. Previously, her husband - Mr. Bui Van Ky worked as a welder, but the income was not enough to support the family, so he switched to fishing on a large boat for a boss in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu). At 3:00 a.m. on September 8, 2015, he fell into the sea and has been missing ever since. Since her husband went missing at sea, Ms. Hoa's family's already difficult life has become even more difficult.
There is no house to live in yet, the couple has to stay in a small house of her grandparents. Her father-in-law is nearly 80 years old and has cerebral atrophy, can only sit in one place, all personal activities must be taken care of. Ms. Hoa can make 3 slices of salt, daughter Nhat Linh often has to follow her mother to make salt, on days when it is too hot or she has to work for hire, she leaves her child with her grandmother, uncle and aunt.

She raised three children alone with her husband's parents, so life was very difficult. On rainy days or when she had free time, she left her children with her grandmother so she could go to Quynh Lap to work, but her income was unstable. Her two sons received an orphan allowance of 540,000 VND per month.
When her child had an accident, her family took her to the emergency room, and she did not have enough money to pay for the hospital car rental. She arrived in Hanoi without a penny in her pocket, and the next morning her relatives were able to borrow 30 million VND to pay for the hospital to treat her child. Currently, Nhat Linh's mother and aunt (Linh's uncle's wife) are allowed by the hospital to take turns looking after her. The other two people have to stay outside to buy some medicine and equipment as required by the doctor.
Although Nhat Linh has health insurance for children under 6 years old and a poor household policy, some of the costs outside of the insurance for severely burned patients are very large, and for a poor family like Ms. Hoa who has to work hard to make ends meet, it is really difficult to save their child. We hope that readers near and far will extend their arms to help the child when his life is in danger.
