(Baonghean.vn) - On November 26, at Quynh Phuong fishing port (Hoang Mai town), Fleet 128, Saigon Port in coordination with the Department of Fisheries, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghe An launched the program "Vietnam Navy as a support for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea".

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quoc Toan - Head of the 128th Fleet affirmed: "The program of the Vietnamese Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea is one of the major policies of the Navy Command to realize the resolutions and directives of the Party on sustainable development of the marine economy associated with management and protection of the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. The program aims to propagate, mobilize, support and help fishermen of Nghe An province to exploit aquatic products safely and legally, associated with building a national defense posture at sea, together with the forces to firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea, islands and continental shelf of the Fatherland in the new situation".

Programme"Vietnam Navy is a support for fishermen to go out to sea and stick to the sea"There are many activities, focusing on disseminating to fishermen about the position, role, and importance of the sea and islands; the demarcation of maritime boundaries between Vietnam and countries in the region; Vietnam's laws on the sea and exploitation, fishing, and combating illegal fishing. At the same time, information on developments in the sea areas; positions to ensure fishing logistics; and activities to support fishermen at sea by the Vietnam People's Navy.

Here, Squadron 128 organized health check-ups, consultations, and free medicine for fishermen; gave gifts to 50 fishing families who are policy beneficiaries, families of fishermen in difficult circumstances, or those who have had accidents at sea... thereby helping local fishermen feel secure at sea, and together with functional forces firmly protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
