The National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control said it had recorded 6 new Covid-19 cases, including 4 domestic cases in Da Nang and 2 imported cases, which were quarantined immediately (in Khanh Hoa: 1, in Hanoi: 1).

- As of 6 p.m. on August 18, Vietnam had 989 patients. Of which, a total of 649 were domestically infected Covid-19 cases; the number of new cases related to Da Nang since July 25 to date is 509.

- From 6am to 6pm on August 18, there were 6 new cases, including 2 imported cases that were quarantined immediately.

Information on new cases:

- CASE 984 (BN984) in Khanh Hoa:The patient is a 45-year-old male, residing in Nghia Ninh Ward, Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province. On August 7, the patient returned from Taiwan to Cam Ranh Airport on flight VJ2849, was immediately quarantined, and had his sample taken for testing in Khanh Hoa. The sample was sent to the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang for testing. The second test result showed the patient was positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus. The patient is currently quarantined and treated at Khanh Hoa Tropical Diseases Hospital.

- PATIENTS 985-988 (BN985-988) in Da Nang: DThe cases are aged 30-65, including 1 case who is a caregiver of a patient at Da Nang Hospital; 1 case who is a trader at Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, Hai Chau District; 1 case in Hai Chau District, 1 case in Hoa Vang District (under investigation).

- CASE 989 (BN989) was quarantined immediately after entering Hanoi:The patient is a 35-year-old male, residing in Son Hoa, Tuyen Hoa, Quang Binh. On July 29, the patient returned to Noi Bai Airport from Equatorial Guinea on flight VN6, was immediately quarantined, and had his sample taken at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Dong Anh facility. The patient tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus.
