Free screening of 125 films participating in the 19th Vietnam Film Festival

The 19th Vietnam Film Festival with the theme "Vietnamese Cinema - National, Humanistic, Creative and Integrated" officially opened in Ho Chi Minh City.Ho Chi Minh.

Taking place from December 1 to December 5 in Ho Chi Minh City, the 19th Vietnam Film Festival has the participation of nearly 500 artists, producers, filmmakers, film distributors, film organizations, film and media companies across the country.

From hundreds of films submitted for selection, the Selection Committee of the 2015 Vietnam Film Festival selected 125 films of various genres from 41 production units to be included in 2 categories. As a result, the Film category had a total of 92 qualified films, including: 20 feature films; 6 video features; 6 plastic documentaries; 27 video documentaries; 10 scientific films and 23 animated films. The Panorama Film category included 15 feature films and 18 video documentaries.

According to the general assessment of the 3 jury panels at the Film Festival, this year, the entries have increased in both quantity and quality. Director Vu Xuan Hung, Chairman of the Feature Film Jury, commented: “The films participating in this Film Festival are good in both content and performance. In terms of content, the film themes are rich, the characters are diverse, and the issues raised are very serious. In terms of performance, the filmmakers have tried very hard to increase the appeal of the films and solve the problem that Vietnamese cinema often encounters, which is the lack of logic and rationality in the process of expressing the content and situations of the film.”

In addition to voting and honoring quality films, the Film Festival also has many other activities such as free screenings of 125 films for Ho Chi Minh City residents at 5 cinema complexes; exhibition “Vietnamese Cinema Accompanying the Country”; seminars discussing the development of Vietnamese cinema technology according to new trends; exchange programs between artists and people.
