The Government issued a Decree on new criteria for converting forest land use purposes.
(Baonghean.vn) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just signed and issued Decree No. 83/2020/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 156/2018/ND-CP dated November 16, 2018 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Forestry Law.

Regarding transitional provisions, the Decree clearly states:
1. For projects that have been decided by competent state agencies to change the purpose of forest use before January 1, 2019 in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Forest Protection and Development and Resolution No. 71/NQ-CP dated August 8, 2017 of the Government promulgating the Government's action program to implement Directive No. 13-CT/TW dated January 12, 2017 of the Central Party Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in forest management, protection and development but have not been completed, they shall continue to be implemented; replacement forestation for areas that have not completed the change of forest use purpose by December 31, 2018 shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions ofArticle 21 of the Forestry Law.
2. For projects that have received comments from ministries and branches, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has compiled and submitted to the Government for consideration and decision on the policy of changing forest use purposes (according to the order and procedures prescribed inArticle 41 of Decree No. 156/2018/ND-CPNovember 16, 2018) before the effective date of this Decree is not required to re-conduct procedures and documents as prescribed in this Decree.
This Decree takes effect from the date of signing and promulgation, July 15, 2020.
