(Baonghean.vn) - Applying science and technology is the most important breakthrough solution in ensuring traffic order and safety, which is one of the directions of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, requesting ministries, branches and localities to promote implementation in the coming time.
On the morning of December 9, the Government held an online conference to summarize the emulation movement to ensure traffic safety and order in the period of 2016 - 2020. Comrade Truong Hoa Binh - Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee chaired the conference at the Hanoi bridge. Attending were Deputy Heads of the National Traffic Safety Committee; representatives of central ministries, branches and relevant agencies and units.

Highly feasible solutions
At the conference, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh acknowledged the results achieved in 5 years of implementing the work.ensure traffic safety(TTATGT) nationwide. After listening to the localities and opinions expressed at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh emphasized that in order to continue to effectively ensure traffic safety in the coming time, ministries, branches and localities need to strengthen the dissemination of laws on ensuring traffic safety, build culture and raise awareness of each individual, give way to each other when participating in traffic; strengthen the handling of violations of alcohol concentration, drug use and violations of load when individuals and vehicles participate in traffic.
Assign ministries, departments, branches, and local traffic safety committees to develop plans and contents for implementing traffic safety work in 2021 and the 2021-2025 period, based on their functions and tasks, and determine the application.science and technologyis the most important breakthrough solution, the key to implementing 5 key tasks on traffic safety in the coming time.
From 2016 to now, the whole country has registered over 1.8 million new cars, nearly 18 million motorbikes, 1.3 million electric motorbikes... bringing the total number of registered vehicles as of October 14, 2020 to over 4.6 million cars, over 72 million motorbikes and nearly 1.5 million electric motorbikes. In 5 years, there were 94,024 traffic accidents (TNGT) nationwide, killing 39,917 people and injuring 77,477 people. In 2020 alone, up to November, there were 12,985 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 6,048 people and injuring 9,652 people.
Previously, the Conference assessed the effectiveness of traffic safety work over the past 5 years, and found that there were many highly feasible solutions. Specifically, in the 2016-2020 period, through a nationwide assessment of 8 major contents on direction and management; traffic safety solutions; traffic accident (TNGT) and traffic congestion; assessment of existing problems, limitations, recognition of causes and effectiveness of implemented solutions... showed many outstanding results.
In the past 5 years, especially in 2020, the number of traffic accidents has decreased sharply in all 3 criteria, showing that the solutions issued by the Government are suitable for practical requirements and highly feasible.

In Nghe An province, each year there are over 80 thousandNewly registered motor vehicle. Currently, Nghe An has 130,000 cars, more than 1.7 million motorbikes and more than 103,000 electric motorbikes. From 2016 to October 2020, Nghe An had 1,385 traffic accidents, killing 898 people and injuring 1,002 people. In the first 10 months of 2020, there were 168 traffic accidents, killing 106 people and injuring 113 people, compared to the same period last year, a decrease of 41 cases, 25 deaths and 32 injuries. Of which, the number of deaths due to traffic accidents decreased in 12 localities and increased in 7 localities compared to 2019.
The conference also listened to the opinions of some localities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh province, Da Nang city, representatives of leaders of some ministries, branches... to evaluate, present the current situation and effective measures in ensuring traffic safety, focusing on propaganda work, investment in building traffic infrastructure system; strengthening patrols, control and handling of violations; focusing on training, granting quality driver's licenses; applying IT in handling traffic safety violations, black spots of traffic accidents...
Implementing the 2021 traffic safety year
In the period of 2021 - 2025, the National Traffic Safety Committee has set out 5 key tasks to ensure traffic safety and order. In particular, in 2021, the whole country will implement the Traffic Safety Year plan with the theme "Improving the effectiveness of law enforcement to ensure traffic safety and order".
The goal of Traffic Safety Year 2021 is to raise the sense of responsibility, professionalism, and professional ethics of public servants in the field of ensuring traffic safety; reduce traffic accidents by 5-10% in the number of cases, deaths and injuries; and reduce traffic congestion in large cities. In particular, the conference emphasized the goal of reducing particularly serious traffic accidents; gradually reducing traffic congestion in large cities, especially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

To implement the Traffic Safety Year 2021, the conference requested member agencies of the National Traffic Safety Committee and Traffic Safety Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to focus on implementing 8 key tasks stated in Resolution 12 of the Government. Opinions at the conference suggested that relevant ministries, departments, branches and units should strengthen measures to ensure traffic safety in 2021 and the following years of the term more drastically to ensure effectiveness.
For Nghe An province, identifying key tasks on ensuring traffic safety in 2021, the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments, branches and sectors to direct the implementation of key contents, focusing on innovating methods of propaganda, dissemination and education of traffic safety laws; strengthening patrols, control and handling of violations of traffic order, especially in the last months of the year; developing and implementing a plan to develop traffic infrastructure for the period 2021 - 2025; promoting the clearance of traffic safety corridors and management of inter-provincial passenger transport services; planning stops, parking lots, and scientific and reasonable traffic flow...
