Chairman of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee inspects election work in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) – On the afternoon of May 20, the National Election Council's election inspection delegation led by Senior Lieutenant General Vo Trong Viet - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's National Defense and Security Committee worked with the provincial election committee.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Election Steering Committee; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Election Committee and comrades in the Provincial Election Committee.

Overview of the working session.

On behalf of the Provincial Election Committee, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong reported on the situation and progress of the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term in Nghe An province.

Accordingly, the province has 5 constituencies for electing National Assembly deputies, 26 constituencies for electing provincial People's Council deputies; 223 constituencies for electing district People's Council deputies and 3,688 constituencies for electing commune People's Council deputies. After the list was compiled and posted, the province had more than 2.1 million voters.

Up to now, preparations for the election in the province have been carried out urgently, seriously and in accordance with the law by the Election Committees at all levels. The work of organizing meetings with voters and campaigning for elections has been carried out to ensure democracy and fairness.

Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee spoke at the meeting.

Propaganda work; handling complaints and denunciations; ensuring security and social order have been carried out seriously. Up to now, the preparation of facilities and means for election day has been ready.

In particular, with the permission of the National Election Council, today (May 20), the districts of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong and Que Phong have areas where early elections will be held seriously and in accordance with the law. Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong also proposed that the Central Government provide additional funding for the province to provide to units and localities to serve the election work.

Senior Lieutenant General Vo Trong Viet spoke and assessed that the election preparation work was carried out seriously by Nghe An province.

The direction and leadership of the province is also timely and synchronous.

Regarding the province's proposal, the General acknowledged and requested that the province submit a written request for additional funding; at the same time, he noted some difficulties and problems that may arise during the election and requested that the province continue to pay attention and have a good solution to ensure absolute safety on election day.
