National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue pays official visit to the People's Republic of Bangladesh

Accompanying the National Assembly Chairman were members of the Party Central Committee: Bui Van Cuong - General Secretary of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office; Vu Hai Ha - Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee; Le Quang Huy - Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment; Thai Thanh Quy - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An Province. Leaders of the ministries: Foreign Affairs, Public Security, Industry and Trade, Planning and Investment, Culture, Sports and Tourism and leaders of some localities cooperating with Bangladesh.

During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Bangladeshi Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury held talks on September 21 right after the official welcoming ceremony held solemnly at the Bangladesh Parliament House.

Discussing bilateral relations, the two leaders affirmed the importance of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bangladesh; assessed that the relationship between the two countries has a solid foundation of mutual trust, close affection and friendship between many generations of leaders and people of the two countries; and has much potential for cooperation that can complement and support each other.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Bangladeshi Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also assessed that there are still many potentials and strengths in the bilateral relationship that have not been fully exploited. In that spirit, the two sides discussed and agreed on a number of major orientations to bring the bilateral cooperation to a new level.

At the end of the talks, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Bangladeshi Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two parliaments and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two parliamentary offices; and attended the ceremony to announce the establishment of the Friendship Parliamentarians' Group of the two countries.

During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bangladeshi Parliament Muhammed Faruk Khan; met with Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin and leaders of political parties.

The National Assembly Chairman delivered a policy speech at the Bangladesh Diplomatic Academy; attended and delivered a speech at the Law and Policy Forum to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries; and received representatives of leaders of major corporations and investors from Bangladesh who came to greet him;...

The visit took place in the context of the good development of the Vietnam - Bangladesh friendship. This is the first visit of the Chairman of our National Assembly to Bangladesh and the highest leader of our country to visit Bangladesh since 2018.

The visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, contributing to consolidating and expanding the friendship and effective and substantive cooperation between the two countries in all fields; affirming the commitment of the Vietnamese National Assembly to cooperate with the Bangladeshi National Assembly after the visit to Vietnam by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Vietnam in 2017; promoting the cooperation between the two National Assemblies into substance and sustainability through the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies. The visit is the most important foreign political event between the two countries on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
