Chairman of the Central Farmers' Association: Manage well the fund to support farmers

On the morning of November 22, the Central Steering Committee for Project 61, headed by comrade Thao Xuan Sung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee for Project 61, listened to the results of 01 year of implementing Conclusion 61 and Decision 673 of the Dong Van Commune Party Committee and Thanh Chuong District Party Committee. Accompanying the delegation from the province were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches.

The report of the Steering Committee of Project 61 of Thanh Chuong District Party Committee shows that the total capital of the farmer support fund in the district is currently 2,935 billion VND, of which the central government's support capital is 2,150 billion VND, implementing the loan project to develop breeding cows in the communes of Dong Van, Thanh Hoa, Thanh Nho; the project to develop Dien grapefruit trees in Thanh Lien commune.

The budget source provided by the District People's Committee is 300 million VND, lending to develop breeding cows in Thanh Ngoc commune, Thanh Hoa. The capital mobilized from farmer members and the commune budget is 485 million VND.

From that fund, farmers were able to buy 162 cows, plant 7.5 hectares of new pomelos, and support 150 households to borrow capital for production and business.

Thereby, the Standing Committee of Thanh Chuong District Party Committee proposed: The Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the Provincial Farmers' Union should pay more attention to supporting projects and programs on economic and social development in the district.

After listening to the report of the Standing Committee of Thanh Chuong District Party Committee and Dong Van Commune Party Committee on the results achieved in using the fund to support farmers under Project 61, comrade Thao Xuan Sung - Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union said that Thanh Chuong district implemented Project 61 in a focused, unified, comprehensive and quite effective manner. Knowing how to promote the resources of the fund to support farmers, creating conditions for farmers to develop the economy, creating solidarity between the Party, the government and the people.

In order for farmers to develop their cattle herds well from the loan capital from this fund, comrade Thao Xuan Sung suggested that local authorities at the commune level should create conditions for farmers to have land to grow grass and proactively provide food sources for cows. At the same time, they should promote training on animal husbandry and production to help farmers change their thinking and working methods; Farmers' Associations at all levels should continue to manage loans from the fund to support farmers according to Project 61 and Decision 673 of the Government.
