Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee returned 1.2 billion VND to the State

Chief of Office of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Thanh announced this information at a meeting on August 2. This is the amount of money that Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai was compensated for the constructions and architectural works on the land recovered in Tan Thanh Ward (Ca Mau City), when the city implemented the Zone D project in the Northeast gateway urban area nearly a year ago.

Mr. Hai is said to have self-examined and realized that when he previously built structures on this land, he committed that "when the State reclaims the land, he will self-demolish it without asking for compensation or support".

The spokesperson of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province also said that the information about the "peaceful oasis of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province" spread on the Internet on July 22 was untrue, causing misunderstandings and affecting organizations and individuals in the process of local management.

This article reflects that Ca Mau City implements planning and land acquisition for socio-economic development, and all households comply. However, the premises of Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai's house on Tran Hung Dao extended street still exist without being handled.

The authorities of Ca Mau province determined that the origin of Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai's land was transferred from relatives in 2002; at that time there were no roads or planning. Mr. Hai then converted the land to residential land, built a house and other ancillary works, all with proper permission.
