Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: Improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs, attract more investors to Nghe An

On the afternoon of January 20, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Nghe An province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate its 10th anniversary (2011-2021) and deploy foreign affairs work in 2021.

In his speech reviewing the 10-year journey of establishment, Mr. Tran Khanh Thuc - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Foreign Affairs emphasized that implementing the renovation initiated and led by our Party, in harmony with the flow of integration and international cooperation of the country, especially since the establishment of the Department of Foreign Affairs up to now, has created a new atmosphere, a new look for Nghe An diplomacy.

Nghe An province's foreign affairs work has gradually become systematic and methodical. Foreign affairs activities have become increasingly vibrant, both in breadth and depth, gradually affirming itself as a core force, leading the province's international integration process, contributing to the completion of socio-economic development targets of the province and the country.

In the context of Vietnam's increasingly deep and wide integration into the world economy and its increasingly enhanced reputation in the international arena, the Department of Foreign Affairs has been proactive, active, flexible, advising the provincial leaders in the work of integration, expanding relations with partners, businesses and foreign investors, bringing the relations between Nghe An and localities of other countries into depth, stability and sustainability.

Over the past 10 years, the Department of Foreign Affairs has successfully completed its assigned tasks on all three pillars (Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and People's diplomacy). The Department has promoted its role as a leading agency in connecting and supporting industries and businesses in international cooperation and integration.

Promoting the proud tradition, entering 2021, Nghe An's Foreign Affairs sector will continue to promote its pioneering role in creating a peaceful and favorable environment for development; maintaining solidarity among ethnic groups, actively and proactively taking advantage of favorable conditions and opportunities to exploit domestic and international investment resources to promote industrialization and modernization.

Besides, it contributes to firmly protecting independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity; enhancing the image, prestige and position of the country and the province; effectively contributing to the cause of building a prosperous Vietnam and a strong Nghe An province.

Diplomacy serving economic development and diplomacy ensuring sovereignty and territorial integrity will continue to be the key tasks of the sector, with a sharp, professional and comprehensive spirit in identifying and grasping trends; strategy and vision in policy advice; and determination and pioneering in organization and implementation.

CONTINUE TO IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS WORK

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao - Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director of the Department of Economic Synthesis emphasized that in the context of deep integration as present, Nghe An has always been proactive in seizing opportunities, seizing opportunities and flexibly and effectively applying them in the aspects of political diplomacy, economic diplomacy and cultural diplomacy.

Nghe An also actively expands relations with foreign agencies and partners. Thanks to that, Nghe An's position and attractiveness in the eyes of international friends and organizations are increasingly affirmed.

In the coming time, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs requested the Department of Foreign Affairs to effectively implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Congress of the Party, build a comprehensive and modern diplomacy; continue to deepen relations with neighboring countries, major countries, important partners, and traditional friends, etc.

Emphasizing that foreign affairs activities have improved, have been proactively, synchronously and effectively deployed, and have developed comprehensively in both breadth and depth, on all three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and People's diplomacy; smoothly combining political diplomacy, economic diplomacy and cultural diplomacy, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assessed that economic diplomacy has truly played an important role and brought about positive results.

Foreign aid mobilization work was implemented with quality and was strictly managed. External information and cultural diplomacy activities were effectively implemented, with many meaningful activities.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also affirmed that in 2020, despite many difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic and natural disasters, the Department of Foreign Affairs overcame difficulties, turned challenges into opportunities, performed well in advisory work to attract foreign investment and support; successfully organized many major events with spillover effects, supported foreign experts to enter the country, contributing to enhancing the image of Nghe An to domestic and international friends.

In the context of deep international integration and the complicated and unpredictable epidemic situation, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Foreign Affairs to be proactive, creative and actively improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs. The Department of Foreign Affairs needs to closely follow the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress to advise and effectively implement the province's foreign affairs.

Continue to strengthen and promote friendly and cooperative relations with localities and traditional partners, promote relations with potential partners, focus on economic diplomacy, create a favorable environment to attract investors to Nghe An. Strengthen citizen protection, support foreign experts to enter the country in the context of the complicated Covid-19 pandemic.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Foreign Affairs to promote coordination, regularly maintain close contact and seek support from agencies and units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central External Relations Commission, foreign representative agencies in Vietnam and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.

Improve the quality of foreign affairs staff with good expertise, professional skills, proficiency, and professional diplomatic style to meet integration requirements.
