The Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of nearly 11,000 martyrs - outstanding sons from many provinces and cities who heroically sacrificed on the Lao battlefield for their noble international duty.
Built in 1976 on an area of nearly 7 hectares, the cemetery is a vivid symbol of the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, and is also a red address where today's generations express their deep gratitude to those who fell for the revolutionary cause.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the delegation offered flowers and incense at the Temple of President Ho Chi Minh and the Heroic Martyrs, commemorating the great contributions and heroic sacrifices of previous generations.

Next, the delegation went to the Memorial to respectfully offer flowers and incense, expressing their infinite gratitude to those who devoted their youth, blood and bones for the independence and freedom of the nation and the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos; wishing the souls of the heroic martyrs to rest in peace in the bosom of their motherland.

Continuing the gratitude activity, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh went to Vinh Tuong commune (established on the basis of merging 3 communes: Hoa Son, Hoi Son, Tuong Son of the old Anh Son district) to visit and present gifts to Mr. Nguyen Manh Tri (born in 1939), a 2/4 class disabled veteran, with a disability rate of 61% and Mr. Bui Cong Trinh (born in 1956), a 1/4 class disabled veteran, with a disability rate of 85%.

At the families, comrade Le Hong Vinh kindly asked about the health and life of the wounded soldiers and their relatives; hoped that they would continue to promote the revolutionary tradition, become a spiritual support for their children and grandchildren and a shining example for the younger generation, and participate in contributing to the construction of their homeland, especially in the period when new communes were arranged, merged and implemented a 2-level local government.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: The Party, the State and Nghe An province always respect and remember the merits and sacrifices of war invalids, martyrs, families of meritorious people and always fully and promptly implement preferential policies and support families.
The wounded soldiers emotionally shared about their military service and the losses they suffered during the war. They all joined the army at a very young age, fought in many fierce battles in Quang Tri, Hue and performed international duties in Laos and were seriously injured, suffering lifelong disabilities and reduced working capacity.

Returning to their homeland, despite having to endure the consequences of war, the war invalids still worked hard, raised their children to adulthood, built stable families, and contributed to building their homeland and country.
