Previously, on July 8 in Hanoi, the jury of the Miss Vietnam 2018 contest selected 40 out of hundreds of girls participating in the preliminary round in the Northern region to enter the final round. The girls underwent anthropometric tests, performed and had a direct dialogue with the judges. According to the Organizing Committee, this year, the quality of the contestants was much more outstanding when there were many girls with radiant beauty and impressive talent attending.

Mr. Vu Tien, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, said that among the 40 contestants who made it to the final round in the North, the vast majority were university and college students. The contestants in the North all had outstanding heights, with 22 beauties being 1.70m or taller.

However, among them, two candidates had to undergo additional medical examinations for the Organizing Committee to confirm their eligibility to enter the next round. They were Vu Huong Giang - a student at the National Economics University and Vu Thi Tuyet Trang - an editor at Vietnam Television.

Mr. Vu Tien confirmed that the two candidates who had to be re-examined had good results and had no cosmetic intervention, thus qualifying them to move on to the next round of the competition.

“The Miss Vietnam Organizing Committee has been serious and thorough in selecting contestants, eliminating cases of cosmetic surgery for many years. This year, only a few contestants who had undergone plastic surgery registered to participate and were eliminated. To ensure fairness and avoid unqualified contestants, the Organizing Committee invited reputable anthropometric experts to participate in the examination and thorough evaluation. After each round, the Organizing Committee conducts re-examination, because through the rigorous and scientific training process, the contestants' body measurements have changed quite a bit,” said Mr. Tien.

In addition, among the 40 finalists, there are 7 contestants born in 2000 who have just passed the high school graduation exam but do not yet know the results. According to the contest rules, the candidates for the Miss Vietnam contest must have a high school diploma or higher (at the time the final round officially begins). Mr. Vu Tien said: “The Organizing Committee has asked for opinions from the management agencies and agreed to allow those candidates to compete in the form of a commitment to owe a high school graduation certificate. If any candidate unfortunately fails to pass the high school graduation exam, the results of the jury for the final round and final will not be recognized. That candidate will have to stop playing.”

Currently, the contestants are focusing on training to enter the Northern final round, taking place from July 12-22 in Cua Lo, Nghe An, continuing their journey to conquer the highest position.

If the concept of the Southern Final night is "Fragrance", full of lightness and youthfulness like a garden filled with brilliant flowers, the concept of the Northern Final night will be "Wood".

The Northern final stage this time was performed outdoors in the windy space of Cua Lo beach, Nghe An.
