Arrested a subject trafficking nearly 12 thousand drug pills in the border area
(Baonghean.vn) - A Mong man trafficking nearly 12,000 synthetic drug pills was discovered and arrested by authorities.
In early October 2018, through a survey of the situation in the border area of Tri Le commune, Que Phong district, Nghe An Border Guard scouts discovered a drug trafficking ring from across the border to Vietnam for consumption led by a Mong ethnic group. Nghe An Border Guard Command established a special project to combat this criminal ring.
Identifying that the subjects often take advantage of the border area, the difficult and rugged mountainous terrain but not far from the traffic route to easily blend in and carry out drug trafficking, Nghe An Border Guard mobilized experienced scouts to monitor and verify.

Detectives determined that this was an organized drug ring led by a Mong man who was familiar with the area. To deceive the authorities, the men often took advantage of their time in the fields to buy, sell and exchange drugs.
Before bringing goods from across the border for trading, the subjects often hide them in deep forest areas, then contact subjects to trade, especially they closely monitor the activities of authorities, especially forces fighting against drug crimes.
To prepare for the year-end shipment, domestic partners requested large quantities of delivery, so the Mong people personally went across the border to buy drugs and hide them in the forest, waiting for the opportunity to buy and sell for profit.
At the end of December, the weather in the border area of Tri Le commune, Que Phong district was covered in fog, especially in Pieng Luong village. Xong Ba Chia's house was right at the beginning of the village but he still brought his bag and sharp knife into the forest to work on the fields.
This time Chia did not go with his wife but went alone, the time of travel was also different from the usual times he went to the fields, because by the time Chia went to the fields, it was already dark. The unusual activities of Xong Ba Chia were immediately monitored by the detectives and reported to the Investigation Committee.

After hiding deep in the forest, Xong Ba Chia waited for the coldest weather and thickest fog, which was near dawn on the founding day of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22) to conduct the transaction.
However, the transaction could not be carried out because at 4:00 a.m. on December 22, 2018, in Pieng Luong village, Tri Le commune, the PCMT&TP Department coordinated with Nhon Mai Border Guard Station, Tri Le Border Guard Station and Ho Chi Minh Road Traffic Control Team of Nghe An Police to successfully dismantle Project 374L, arresting red-handed Xong Ba Chia (born in 1981), residing in Pieng Luong village, Tri Le commune, Que Phong district, Nghe An province, while he was illegally trafficking and transporting drugs.
Evidence seized at the scene was 11,600 synthetic drug pills and 01 sharp knife. According to Xong Ba Chia's statement, while transporting the above amount of drugs from across the border to Vietnam for consumption, when arriving at the above location, he was discovered and arrested by the authorities.
Currently, Nghe An Border Guard has completed the documents and handed them over to the competent authorities for handling according to the provisions of law./.
