The United States is accustomed to bureaucracy, so every quarter it introduces new sanctions against Nord Stream 2, which is an element of US domestic policy, but this is not dangerous, said Deputy Director of the Russian Energy Security Fund Grivach.

Bureaucratic habits

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said earlier that the US government imposed sanctions on two ships and one company related to Russia participating in the "Nord Stream 2" gas pipeline project.

"On the one hand, this is bureaucratic inertia, on the other hand, it is a factor of domestic politics. The Biden administration is under pressure from lawmakers for political reasons and to get money back from lobbyists. That is why this administration imposes sanctions on individual ships every quarter, on the one hand to comply with the agreements with Germany, on the other hand to demonstrate that the administration is still loyal to the sanctions policy," said Mr. Grivach.

According to experts, sanctions are unpleasant and create inconvenience in the operation of ships, but are not dangerous, and both ship owners and captains can adapt to new conditions.
