The plan is a new effort by Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton to send a message of retribution to Republican rival Donald Trump over his recent racist campaign.
Clinton's aides said on October 17 that she would aggressively compete for voters in Arizona, a state with a growing Hispanic population that has also become a hotbed of heated debate over immigration.
“Mrs. Clinton is ‘significantly stepping up’ her efforts in Arizona, a traditionally Republican state,” Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook told reporters on October 17.
Mrs. Clinton has spent more than $2 million on advertising and will send perhaps her strongest representative, the wife of the US President Michelle Obama, to a rally in the capital of Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday (October 20).
In Indiana and Missouri, Mr. Mook said, the campaign will spend a total of $1 million to encourage voters there to vote. However, he also admitted that this is an “uphill battle” for Mrs. Clinton.
In addition, Mrs. Clinton also wants to focus more money on a series of other battleground states in the race for the White House.
Clinton's campaign team is now closely analyzing key battlegrounds like Pennsylvania, Florida and North Carolina, states that Republicans carried in 2012.
Or in Texas, a campaign has been prepared to promote Mrs. Clinton's trustworthiness and honesty from The Dallas Morning News. Mrs. Clinton's running mate, Tim Kaine - vice presidential candidate, has also begun participating in local media interviews in Utah, where candidate Donald Trump is competing with Mrs. Clinton and an independent candidate, Evan McMullin.
In Arizona, the list of attendees also includes the Clintons' daughter Chelsea and Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont.
Mr. Mook added that Mrs. Clinton could appear here at short notice. “We hope she will be there,” he said.
Meanwhile, candidate Donald Trump's campaign has not commented on the plans of his Democratic opponent.
