According to sources, this week Mr. Trump discussed the issue of withdrawing troops from Syria in a meeting at the White House with Abdullah II, King of Jordan.

Channel interlocutors reported that, according to Trump's plan, the US would allow the Syrian government to regain control of the territory in the Jordanian border area. In return, Russia would guarantee that Damascus would not pursue the rebels and allow them to leave the area. Trump also hoped that Russia would create a de-escalation zone in southwestern Syria, preventing pro-Iranian forces from entering there.

The overthrow of Iran from Syria is a key goal of the US President's plan to "exit Syria", sources said.

The meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump will be held in Helsinki on July 16. The two presidents intend to discuss the prospects for the development of relations between the Russian Federation and the United States, as well as topical issues on the international agenda.
