'One Meter Girl' writes about the journey of sowing willpower and spreading love
Suffering from Agent Orange, only one meter tall and confined to a wheelchair, Dang Thi Kim Oanh (Kim Oanh Victory, born in 1994, from Nam Dan, Nghe An) has never given up on her dreams and beliefs. She chooses to live a useful life, spreading the spirit of “self-reliance - confidence - self-improvement”; strongly inspiring the community.
Overcoming adversity
Meet Kim Oanh - a girl with a small stature, only one meter tall, seemingly fragile but radiating a special energy: bright eyes, a gentle smile and a confident voice. Hidden behind that handicapped body is an extraordinary willpower and a strong desire to live that makes everyone who meets her admire.

Despite suffering from Agent Orange from her father, Dang Thi Kim Oanh has never given up on her fate. On the contrary, her physical limitations have become the motivation for her to strive in her studies, achieving excellent academic results for many years and then studying Social Work at the University of Labor and Social Affairs.
Her career path was also full of thorns. With her special condition, finding a job in her field was a big challenge. After a period of struggling in Hanoi, she returned to her hometown and persistently made a living in many ways: selling online, self-studying, creating content on social networks... to prove that people with disabilities can still live independently and usefully.
However, when life was temporarily stable, another incident occurred: Spinal injury, osteoarthritis, causing her legs to lose feeling, forcing her to be confined to a wheelchair. It was a big shock to an ambitious young girl. But instead of giving up, she chose to move forward with faith and optimism, telling herself:“I can't choose my birth, but I can choose how to walk meaningfully.”!"
The desire to affirm her own value urged her to "open her heart" to connect with the community of friends in the same situation. She joined the Nam Dan Association of People with Disabilities, and together with the members initiated many charity programs: Raising funds to support the disadvantaged, giving moon cakes to children, or helping members build personal brands on digital platforms.

In early 2025, on the basis of the Association of People with Disabilities, the Nam Dan Self-Reliance Club for People with Disabilities was established. Ms. Dang Thi Kim Oanh, as Vice President of the Club, quickly became a spiritual support, spreading the message.“Self-reliance – Self-confidence – Self-improvement”, is a place for each member to connect, affirm their abilities and find their own value. In each meeting, Ms. Oanh always brings warm sharing, adding strength and faith in life to everyone.
Journey to spread strength and love
People with disabilities always face many difficulties in life. Finding a job or a stable livelihood is already a big challenge, because their limited physical condition makes it difficult for them to integrate, their income is unstable and the risk of falling back into poverty is high. Many families also have to bear additional mental and economic pressure when taking care of their daily life and accompanying their disabled relatives.
Understanding that concern, Ms. Kim Oanh and the Board of Directors of the Nam Dan Disabled Self-Reliance Club have sought a suitable livelihood model for members. With the motto“Give a fishing rod – Give a livelihood”She and her colleagues traveled to many places, visited and learned from reality to find the most practical direction.

After much thought, the Club chose the poultry farming model to take advantage of home gardens, with family support and suitable for the health conditions of members. Taking on the role of coordinator, Ms. Oanh not only contributed her efforts but also put her heart and soul into it. From her own story of perseverance, she aroused the belief in a positive life and called for the support of businesses and donors.
Fate brought her to meet Mr. Hoang Nguyen Trong Dung - General Director of Hoang Gia Phat Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company. Appreciating her determination and contributions, he decided to accompany and support the project. Accordingly, Hoang Gia Phat will coordinate with the Club to organize technical training sessions and support chickens and ducks for members in difficult circumstances; laying the foundation for a network to support livestock farming and product consumption in many localities in the province.
The poultry farming model for Nam Dan disabled members is gradually taking shape, opening up hope for a sustainable livelihood, helping them reduce their dependence, while also igniting their faith and becoming a spiritual support to step firmly in life. For Hoang Gia Phat, this is not only a charitable activity, but also a continuation of the philosophy of "good fields, good fortune" - sowing good seeds, spreading humanistic values to the community.

For Kim Oanh Victory, the project is a “brainchild” that conveys aspirations and beliefs. Sticking to the philosophy of life “Thien dao thu can - Troi khong trai nguoi vat” and “Thien nhan”, she has turned her dream into reality. Her story of perseverance is proof that happiness does not come from the favor of fate, but from the strength to turn adversity into motivation to live and spread love. With persistent and extraordinary efforts, Kim Oanh Victory was recently honored as one of 20 outstanding faces participating in the program “Vietnam Women with Disabilities 2025”./.
