Beautiful girl had to cut her face to squeeze out pus after injecting autologous fat for beauty
After 2 injections of autologous fat into the smile lines, Hoa's face was as round as a ball due to infection, with many pus pockets appearing.
Dr. Nguyen Trung Cap, Head of the Emergency Department, Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, said that the department has just received a case of infection complications after autologous fat injection for cosmetic purposes. The patient is Nguyen Thi Hoa, 27 years old, from Quoc Oai, Hanoi.
The patient had been treated for more than 2 weeks at the 108 Central Military Hospital. When he was transferred, his face was still swollen. There were 4 2cm incisions on his face to drain pus that were still oozing pus.
At Hospital 108, test results showed that the pus contained 2 types of bacteria and 1 type of fungus. The patient was given antibiotics but did not get better.

Currently, after 8 days of treatment at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases with antibiotics and antifungal drugs, the signs of infection have improved, some pus has dried up, but new pus pockets still appear.
“After using antibiotics, the culture now shows no more bacteria. If the patient only had a staphylococcal infection, treatment would have cured him in 1-2 weeks, but we suspect the patient has also been infected with Whitmore bacilli, in which case the treatment will be very complicated and may take several months,” Dr. Cap shared.
Constantly regretting her gullibility, Hoa shared that she originally had a plump, pretty face, but because she believed the "teacher's" words, she injected her own fat into the two sides of her smile lines.
Hoa said that more than a year ago, she registered to study eyebrow tattooing at a spa on Ngo Tat To Street (Dong Da, Hanoi), but then stopped studying because she got pregnant and gave birth. In June, when she saw the spa owner posting a recruitment notice on social media for autologous fat injections, Hoa signed up.

“After many text messages back and forth, on July 4, I went to the spa to have autologous fat injected into my two smile lines. When I heard the method and saw the tools, I was worried, but she reassured me that she had done it for many people, so I could rest assured, there was no swelling, no pain, so I was satisfied,” Hoa recounted.
Hoa was asked to lie on the table, her abdomen was anesthetized, two holes were made to insert the liposuction tube, then the fat was centrifuged.
“At that time, I was very scared and didn't dare look at my fat. I wanted to stop, but she said the fat was very beautiful, so I just kept injecting it, it wouldn't be a waste,” said Hoa.
After centrifugation, Hoa was injected with 2 injections of her own fat into her smile lines. However, the next morning, the young girl saw her face deformed and swollen. Hoa took a photo and sent it to the spa owner, who prescribed her medicine, but after taking it for a week, it did not help, and her face even became more swollen.

After nearly 1 month of treatment at the hospital, Hoa's face still has new abscesses. |
Hoa continued to go to the spa owner's house. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the owner continued to take Hoa to meet another spa owner, who said she was a "teacher", and was prescribed another prescription.
After taking the medicine for 3 days, Hoa felt her face was as round as a ball, so she went to the 108 Central Military Hospital for examination. The doctor required her to be hospitalized immediately for treatment.
Because the pus had spread all over the face, in addition to the two incisions at the corners of the mouth, the doctor had to make two more incisions at the eye bags to drain the pus.
Dr. Cap said that fortunately the patient’s vision was not affected. Currently, in addition to treating the infection, the hospital is also working with doctors from the National Burn Institute’s wound healing department to find ways to reduce the risk of bad scars and facial deformities for the patient.
