(Baonghean.vn) - In the ripe rice season, the colorful landscape painting on the fields of the people of Hanh Dich commune, the mountainous district of Que Phong attracts the footsteps of tourists when they come to this land. Many people compare Hanh Dich fields to Tu Le valley (Van Chan district, Yen Bai province) in the western region of Nghe An.

Hanh Dich Commune (Que Phong) currently has more than 2,000 Thai ethnic people living there. The Thai people in Hanh Dich Commune belong to two main groups: Tay Thanh (pronounced as Tay in some places) and Tay Muong. Photo: Thanh Cuong
The rice fields of Hanh Dich commune are about 15km from the center of Que Phong district. In autumn, the rice fields are heavy with golden yellow on the terraced fields like silk ribbons, making the scenery of this border commune dreamy, the most beautiful of the year. Photo: Thanh Cuong

Some elderly people in the commune said that people have been growing wet rice for a long time. This area was increased rapidly in the 90s of the 20th century. Currently, the whole commune has more than 40 hectares of rice fields, concentrated in villages such as: Chieng village, Pom Om village, Khom village... Photo: Thanh Cuong
Hanh Dich is also considered the "cradle" of Muong Dan and Muong Viec in the history book "9 villages, 10 muongs" that the Thai people in Western Nghe An have passed down to this day. Photo: Thanh Cuong
Nowadays, farming, sowing and harvesting rice have undergone many innovations. People in Hanh Dich commune have learned to apply science and technology to production. Thanks to that, people's rice productivity has improved significantly. Photo: Thanh Cuong
The Thai people in Hanh Dich commune still preserve many customs and practices in worship, holiday dishes, etc. Photo: Thanh Cuong
Unlike the flat fields in the plain districts, terraced fields are often small and winding on the mountain slopes, making farming and harvesting rice more difficult. Photo: Ho Phuong
While harvesting, the Thai people in Que Phong often tie the rice into small bundles, then use shoulder poles or baskets to transport them to the gathering place before threshing. Photo: Ho Phuong

Because the terraced fields are small, multi-function harvesters cannot be used. Photo: Ho Phuong

People produce along the clear and peaceful Nam Viec River. This is also where the people of Hanh Dich commune have an abundant source of food from catching fish, shrimp, crabs, etc. The terraced fields in Hanh Dich commune are not only a picture of the prosperous life of the people, but also an interesting place to experience, visit, and check-in for those who love to travel.
