Con Cuong postpones council meeting to restore traffic after flood

(Baonghean.vn) - After storm No. 2, in Con Cuong district, there was prolonged heavy rain and many communes were isolated, many places had to build temporary bridges for travel.

Faced with that situation, Con Cuong district postponed the 3rd session of the 19th term People's Council to focus on directing and overcoming the consequences, as well as being proactively ready to respond if heavy rain is caused by storm circulation.

The District Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has assigned working groups to inspect and direct flood prevention and response, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters.

Immediately after the storm passed, the local authorities and people proceeded to clear up fallen trees, clear roads, repair houses, and clean up the environment in flooded areas, preventing possible epidemics for people and livestock. Measures were deployed to restore agricultural production and provide relief to stabilize people's lives soon.

In the whole Con Cuong district, 352.5 hectares of rice, 82.8 hectares of vegetables were flooded, 25.5 hectares of cassava, 63.3 hectares of industrial crops, 3 hectares of fruit trees, and 483 hectares of forestry trees were broken down, 1 buffalo, 7 pigs were swept away, 30.5 hectares of fish ponds were flooded, 3 fish cages were swept away.

The road connecting Don Phuc commune to Binh Chuan is about to have serious landslides, 300m of canal is severely damaged, 5 houses collapsed, 46 houses had their roofs blown off, estimated damage in Con Cuong is nearly 20 billion VND./.
