Son-in-law heads agency overseeing Trump's campaign promise

President Donald Trump plans to announce on Monday the creation of a new department at the White House with broad powers, which will be led by Jared Kushner, his senior adviser and son-in-law, the Washington Post writes.

Trump's son-in-law will control the President's fulfillment of campaign promises.

According to the newspaper, the management of the brand new US agency will exist as a department in the West Wing of the White House and under the direct command of Trump.

The agency's mandate will be to closely monitor the federal administration and the implementation of key pre-election promises made by President Trump, including calls to reform the veterans care system and the fight against opioid addiction.

"All Americans, regardless of their political views, understand that government gridlock hinders our ability to function properly, and it routinely creates bottlenecks, delays, and cost overruns," Trump told the Washington Post in a statement.
