US President's son admits wanting information about Mrs. Clinton from Russia
(Baonghean.vn)- On July 10, Mr. Donald Trump Jr., son of US President Donald Trump, admitted that he spent time attending a meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya with ties to the Kremlin during the US presidential election campaign last year, hoping to get information about Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
The meeting was held at the request of a singer living in Russia, whose family is linked to Mr. Trump's business.

The New York Times published a report saying that Mr. Trump Jr. was informed about the information gathered from the Russian government, raising doubts about the possibility of Mr. Trump's campaign's connection to Moscow, which is under investigation by federal investigators and the US Congress.
According to the Times, in an email sent by singer Rob Goldstone, Mr. Trump Jr., who served as a key campaign adviser to his father, was informed that the Moscow government was behind the information about candidate Clinton. The report is the first public account of Mr. Trump Jr. accepting the meeting in the hope that he would be provided with damaging information about his father’s political opponent that could be disseminated by the Kremlin.

In a statement, Trump Jr. lawyer Alan Futerfas called the Times report “worthless,” though he acknowledged that his client had received an email from Goldstone about a meeting with the intent of passing damaging information on Clinton. Futerfas’ statement did not contradict the Times’ reporting of the email. Futerfas added that Trump Jr. was not given details and nothing was discussed during the meeting.
For his part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin did not know lawyer Veselnitskaya and “could not track” all Russian lawyers who organized meetings in Russia or abroad./.
