Police investigate the case of a mother and child who died unexpectedly in Nghe An

On the afternoon of November 23, speaking with a reporter from Nghe An Newspaper, Colonel Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy Director of Nghe An Provincial Police said that the unit has begun investigating the case of a pregnant woman and her fetus dying in Quynh Luu district.

"The investigation is being carried out urgently in accordance with legal procedures after the family filed a complaint. We cannot yet draw any conclusions," said Colonel Hung.

Meanwhile, Nghe An General Hospital said that early this morning, pregnant woman Ho Thi M. (27 years old) died after 3 days of emergency treatment there. Currently, the authorities have performed an autopsy to clarify the incident.

Previously, on the morning of November 19, Ms. M. was taken to the delivery room of Quynh Luu District General Hospital with a diagnosis of 40 weeks of pregnancy, giving birth for the third time. Ultrasound results showed that the fetal heart rate was 131 beats/minute. Placental location: left posterior fundus, calcification level III. Amniotic fluid index was normal, amniotic fluid was not uniform. At this time, doctors indicated a normal delivery.

At 12:30, the mother began to push, the cervix was fully dilated, the water broke, the baby's head was in, the uterine contractions were at frequency III... However, during the pushing process, when the baby's head was low, the mother suddenly stopped breathing, her whole body turned purple, she gradually lost consciousness, and her carotid and femoral pulses could not be felt.Doctors had to raise the red alert and call for emergency medical care for the entire hospital. The pregnant woman was intubated, her circulation stopped, and then she underwent surgery to remove the fetus. However, the fetus later died.

At 2 p.m., the doctors performed a hysterectomy and then suggested transferring the patient to Nghe An General Hospital, but the family did not agree. It was not until nearly three hours later that the family agreed to transfer the patient to another hospital in a comatose state.
