Nghe An engineers detonate a bomb weighing nearly 230 kg
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghi Loc District Military Command has just coordinated with the Engineering Department of Nghe An Province Military Command to successfully relocate and destroy an American bomb left over from the war.
Previously, on March 18, Binh Thanh Company Limited dredged the riverbed, wharf, left bank of Lam River, in Hamlet 6, Phuc Tho Commune (Nghi Loc District) and discovered a bomb.American bombburied deep underground. According to the information on the bomb body, this bomb weighs 500 pounds, equivalent to 226.796 kg.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Military Command of Phuc Tho commune organized vigilance and protected the scene.
On the morning of March 19, the Nghi Loc District Military Command coordinated with the Engineering Department of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command to remove and move the bomb from the wharf area to Khe Xanh in Hamlet 3, Nghi Hung Commune for detonation according to regulations. The destruction process took place safely.
According to Major Tran Van Duc - Engineering Assistant, Engineering Department (Nghe An Province Military Command), the bomb exploded and affected an area with a radius of 1,000m, of which the dangerous area had a radius of 500m.
