Green-uniformed Nghe An voters perform 'double' duty at the border

(Baonghean.vn) - Officers and soldiers of Nghe An Border Guard have not only performed the task of firmly protecting border security, but also coordinated with the government to propagate and properly implement regulations on the election of deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels.

Ready for Election Day

My Ly Commune is one of 16 localities in Ky Son District to hold early elections on May 21 with 9 constituencies. In the constituencies in My Ly Commune, banners, slogans, national flags as well as the list of delegates were posted and hung neatly. On May 19, the Commander of My Ly Border Guard Station, together with the leaders of the Commune Party Committee and members of the Election Steering Committee, inspected the preparations in some areas in the area.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang The Tai - Political Commissar of My Ly Border Guard Station said that the station has been regularly coordinating with local authorities to promote and protect the early election day in My Ly and Bac Ly, especially in these "final" days. We, the voters in green uniforms, as well as local people, are eager to exercise our civic rights in choosing worthy representatives.

As in My Ly commune, Border Guard units across the province have been working closely with local Party committees and authorities to actively propagate and guide people to properly implement regulations on the election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels, especially in localities holding early elections. Up to now, Border Guard units have coordinated to propagate on local radio systems for about 30 minutes/day;propagate215 sessions/23,600 people were gathered; mobile propaganda at densely populated areas had 60 sessions/260 officers and soldiers participating.

Previously, the Party Committee - Command of the Border Guard of Nghe An province advised the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council and worked with the District Party Committees and People's Councils of border districts on the structure of provincial Border Guard officers participating in the election of People's Council deputies at the district and border commune levels. Up to this point, there are 2 officers of the Provincial Border Guard running for district-level People's Council deputies (Thanh Chuong and Ky Son), 23 officers running for People's Council deputies of border communes.

Theborder areaNghe An has 129 groups that will hold early elections on May 21, 2021 in 4 districts of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong and Que Phong. Of which, Ky Son has 99 groups, Tuong Duong 21 groups, Que Phong 4 groups and Con Cuong 5 groups.

For voters who are Border Guards, there are voters from 9 Border Guard Stations participating in early elections. These are 7 stations on the Ky Son route, Nhon Mai Border Guard Station (Tuong Duong) and Chau Khe Border Guard Station (Con Cuong). Of which, there is an election team at Chau Khe Border Guard Station conducting independent elections, the remaining units (including 21 teams) participating in early elections together with the locality where they are stationed.

21 groups of voters wearing green uniforms participated in the early election with localities including: groups in Khe Bu and Khe Na villages (Chau Khe commune, Con Cuong); groups in Huoi Xai, Huoi Moi, Muong Long, Nam Tot villages (Tri Le commune, Que Phong); groups in Huoi Xui, Huoi Cang, Keo Con villages (Keng Du commune, Ky Son); Tham Hon, Ka Duoi, Ka Tren, Tong Khu, Ka Noi, Huoi Thum, Huoi Xai, Quac 3 (Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son); Keo Pha Tu, Keo Nam, Xam Thang, Cha Nga, Na Kho (My Ly commune, Ky Son); 2 groups in Huoi Son and Pha Lom villages (Tam Hop commune, Tuong Duong district).

Including the two early elections on May 21 and the official election on May 23, Nghe An Border Guard units have 6 independent election teams including: Command Headquarters and Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station (Hoang Mai town), Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station (Quynh Luu district), Mon Son Border Guard Station, Chau Khe Border Guard Station and Training - Mobile Battalion (Con Cuong).

Ensuring border security and epidemic prevention

Along with the propaganda towards the great national festival, Nghe An Border Guard force also persistently carried out the fight against crime, maintained peace at the border, and prevented the Covid-19 epidemic. In 2020 alone, the Provincial Border Guard presided over and coordinated the detection and arrest of 727 cases/1,008 subjects/336 vehicles (including 16 special cases); seized 80 heroin cakes; 112.905 kg of crystal methamphetamine; 04 kg of Ketamine; 75,509 synthetic drug pills and many other exhibits; administratively sanctioned 522 cases/680 subjects and 4 enterprises, paying the State budget nearly 2 billion VND.

In the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Border Guard has coordinated with other forces to establish 67 teams, fixed and mobile posts with more than 500 comrades to both manage and protect the border and prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic.

Colonel Le Nhu Cuong - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Nghe An Border Guard said: We have issued the Command's Plan on combat readiness to protect the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term; deployed the plan to organize the protection of election areas, vote counting teams, plans to ensure absolute safety of voting areas, maintain political security, social order and safety in the area under the management of the unit before, during and after the election. In addition, it requires officers and soldiers to both perform well the election task and strengthen patrolling, control, management, border protection and prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic.
