The three hotline numbers not only receive reports of illegal Tet gift giving but also report acts of corruption.

When people discover acts of giving Tet gifts or corruption, they can call the Anti-Corruption Department's hotlines 08.048228, 0902.386.999, 0125.698.6688. This agency will receive letters and denunciations, then transfer the records and information to the responsible departments and localities for verification and handling. After having the results, the departments and localities must send a report to the Anti-Corruption Department for summary and reporting to superiors for further handling measures.

This is the fourth year that the Anti-Corruption Department has made the hotline public. Before and after the Lunar New Year 2017, the hotline received 56 reports of corruption and giving and receiving Tet gifts. Of these, 33 reports were mainly in the fields of traffic safety, urban order, and prohibited goods trading; the remaining 23 reports were reports of giving and receiving Tet gifts in violation of regulations.

In 2007, the Prime Minister signed Decision 64 on regulations on gift giving, receiving and returning gifts by agencies, organizations and units using the state budget. Accordingly, agencies, units and individuals are only allowed to use money and assets of the state or from the state budget to make gifts in cases permitted by the state regime.

Agencies, units, cadres, civil servants, and public employees are strictly prohibited from receiving gifts, receiving them on behalf of others, or receiving them through other agencies, units, or individuals. When an agency or unit receives a gift that is not in accordance with regulations, it must hand it over to the department responsible for managing the agency's gifts for handling according to regulations.
