Life is like a dream in a village with 300 people over 100 years old
Eating anchovies, rosemary and taking time to relax and rest are habits that help the villagers of Acciaroli (Italy) live long.
Italian life is like a dream with delicious food, wine and beautiful scenery. In particular, the village of Acciaroli in this Southern European country also possesses the secret to longevity when 1/3 of the population, equivalent to 300 people, has passed the age of 100. According to NPR, Alan Maisel, a cardiologist at the University of San Diego School of Medicine (USA), discovered that in addition to good genes, there are other reasons that help prolong the life of the residents here.

During his trip to Acciaroli, Maisel observed two eating habits of the villagers. "People here eat anchovies. They also always add rosemary to their food," the doctor shared. These are both healthy foods because anchovies are rich in omega 3 and rosemary has long been considered a medicinal herb, soothing sore, swollen muscles and protecting the body from carcinogens.
Dr. Maisel also observed that Acciaroli residents do not bother much with exercise: "What shocked me was that no one was doing brisk walking. They did not go to gym classes and they did not swim in the sea." On the other hand, the villagers were very happy, and many studies have shown that a positive attitude leads to a longer life. "In the evening or late afternoon, they sit in the restaurant, have wine and some coffee," says Maisel. "Everyone is relaxed."
