In the past 2 weeks, the Obstetrics Department - Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has continuously received 4 cases of pregnant women with placenta accreta.
According to Master, Doctor Tran Quang Hanh - Deputy Head of Obstetrics Department, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, "Patient H's case is very lucky because she was given emergency care and timely treatment, because in cases of placenta accreta, bladder invasion, and old age like Ms. H's, it will lead to premature birth and heavy bleeding during birth, which is very dangerous.
Therefore, diagnosis and treatment must be careful, surgery should only be performed at specialized hospitals with adequate conditions and experienced doctors.
Doctor Tran Quang Hanh also noted that to minimize risks, women need to be proactive in family planning, avoid abortion and not abuse cesarean section to avoid the risk of placenta accreta in future pregnancies../.
Placenta accreta is a condition in which the placenta adheres abnormally to the uterine muscle layer of the pregnant woman. Depending on the degree of placental invasion, it is divided into 3 levels: mild level is when the placenta adheres tightly and invades part of the uterine muscle; moderate level is when the placenta invades deeply into the uterine muscle but has not passed through the uterine serosa; severe level is when the placenta penetrates the uterine serosa and invades neighboring organs such as the bladder and intestines.
