(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 28, on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Chile, a Chilean delegation led by former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet visited the Kim Lien National Special Relic Site (Nam Dan) to offer flowers and incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh.

Accompanying him were Mr. Sergio Narea - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Chile to Vietnam; Mr. Pham Truong Giang - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Chile and other members of the delegation.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs and related departments and offices.

In May 1969, during the fierce days of the war, the late President Salvador Allende, then President of the Chilean Senate, visited Vietnam. During his two-week stay in Vietnam, the late President Allende traveled to many places and learned about the actual fighting and experiences of Vietnam, especially the building of a broad national solidarity front and a medical network to provide emergency aid and treatment to war victims.

The visit of the late Chilean President at that time brought great encouragement to the Vietnamese people, becoming a symbol of the international people's movement supporting Vietnam's struggle for national independence, peace and national reunification. The historic meeting between the late President Allende and President Ho Chi Minh laid the foundation for the relationship of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, making Chile the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

On the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Chile (March 25, 1971 - March 25, 2023), former President of Chile Michelle Bachelet and her delegation paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, expressing their respect to the great leader of the Vietnamese people. He devoted his entire life to the cause of national liberation of the Vietnamese people, tirelessly striving for peace and progress around the world.

During her working program in Nghe An, former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet will visit Nghe An Museum, VSIP Industrial Park, WHA Industrial Zone 1 to promote cooperation between localities and people-to-people exchange activities between the two countries./.
