Former President Trump calls leaving the White House a mistake

According to RIA Novosti, former US President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate in the 2024 White House race, said he considered leaving the White House after losing the 2020 election as "his mistake."

"We had the most secure border in the history of our country the day I left. I shouldn't have left. Frankly, we've done a great job. Right now, we have hundreds of lawyers here protecting this year's election," Donald Trump told supporters at a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania on November 3 (local time).

Mr. Trump has repeatedly refused to admit defeat in the 2020 election, and has repeatedly claimed that his loss was the result of fraud and continued to voice doubts about the fairness of the upcoming election.

He has repeatedly accused the Democrats of cheating in the election and a host of other accusations, all aimed at making his supporters believe that the election results are illegitimate if he loses.

The former US president accused election officials of using early voting to commit fraud and that large numbers of mail-in ballots were illegal, even as he encouraged his supporters to use mail-in voting. Most notably, Mr. Trump claimed that the only way Vice President Kamala Harris could win the election was by cheating.

According to The New York Times, in the first days after his defeat in the 2020 election, Mr. Trump told aides that he had no intention of leaving the White House and transferring power to Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

The US presidential election will take place on November 5. The two candidates for the Democratic and Republican parties are US Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, respectively.
