On the evening of August 5, the cyclo driver who "ripped off" an 83-year-old Japanese tourist by 2.9 million VND for a 5-minute cyclo ride in District 1 presented himself to the police.

This man is named Pham Van Dung (49 years old, residing in District 4). Mr. Dung confessed that on the morning of August 3, at Me Linh Square, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, when he saw a foreign tourist waving a cyclo and asking to go to Riverside Hotel (Ton Duc Thang Street, District 1), he picked him up.

According to Mr. Dung, because this tourist did not ask for the price first, after the ride, he took 500,000 VND, then he asked for more money. When this tourist opened his wallet, he saw that he was old and had a lot of money, so Mr. Dung took his own wallet and took another 2.4 million VND. Thus, the total amount of money Mr. Dung took was 2.9 million VND for the 5-minute cyclo ride.

It is known that previously, on social networks appeared the story of Mr. Oki Toshiyuki, 83 years old, a Japanese tourist who came to Ho Chi Minh City to travel and visit his children. This was his 5th time coming to Vietnam and had an unwanted experience. However, Mr. Oki did not file a report but only told the above story and said that "it was my fault for not asking the price first"./.
