Early and accurate forecasting and prediction
According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, currently, the northern provinces and cities have over 1.1 million hectares of winter-spring rice growing and developing well. This area will be concentrated from now until after May 10. Currently, some pests and diseases are arising and causing damage to rice fields in the region, such as leaf blast, brown planthoppers and white-backed planthoppers, and small leaf rollers.
In particular, over 200 hectares in Nghe An, Quang Binh and Hue were infected with rice blast disease (an increase of 283% over the same period last year).
It is forecasted that in the coming time, there may be cold air, cloudy sky, rain, high humidity, prolonged fog,... favorable for pests and diseases to arise and cause damage to crops, especially rice blast, brown planthopper, white-backed planthopper and leaf roller.
Speaking at the conference, Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong acknowledged that localities have done a good job of classifying each specific rice crop, identifying each subject that affects each crop. What needs to be done now is to organize prevention and control, paying special attention to rice blast disease so as not to miss anything or be surprised.

We must be "confident" in forecasting and making use of all solutions, especially propaganda solutions on the media so that localities and people can join hands to prevent, handle and control the epidemic in a timely manner on a small scale.
In addition, we must pay close attention to fall armyworms and locusts that damage other crops.
Special note on neck blast disease
This spring crop, Nghe An planted more than 91,670 hectares of rice, 17,732 hectares of corn, over 10,678 hectares of peanuts and nearly 11,800 hectares of various vegetables and beans. The whole province has over 13,376 hectares of rice infected with pests, of which over 2,000 hectares are affected by leaf blast disease, over 7,449 hectares are affected by brown spot disease, over 3,000 hectares are affected by rats... In addition, fall armyworms have damaged 2,636 hectares of corn, of which over 260 hectares are severely damaged.

Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong also noted: Nghe An has nearly half of its rice area producing high-quality rice varieties, which are very susceptible to rice blast disease, so special attention must be paid to preventing rice blast disease that can cause widespread damage, especially when there is already a "base" of over 2,000 hectares of rice infected with leaf blast disease. Closely monitor the damage caused by fall armyworms, and protect the province's 17,732 hectares of corn.
