National Assembly delegates from Nghe An questioned the Minister of Finance about the operational efficiency of coastal economic zones.
On the morning of June 19, continuing the 9th Session, the 15th National Assembly conducted a question and answer session.

The first group of issues raised for questioning was in the financial sector, focusing on the following contents: solutions to mobilize and allocate financial resources for socio-economic development, promoting growth; improving the operational efficiency of state-owned enterprises; mechanisms to support the private economic sector and attract foreign direct investment (FDI); policies for developing industrial parks and economic zones.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Nhat Minh - National Assembly Deputy in charge of Nghe An delegation asked questions related to the operational efficiency of coastal economic zones.
The delegate said that the Party and Government's policy requires the development of industrial parks and economic zones in the direction of coastal ecological economic zones, associated with the formation of strong marine economic centers.
However, current reality shows that many coastal economic zones have not yet attracted strategic investment projects and lack key technical infrastructure works of a dynamic nature.
The contribution rate of coastal economic zones to the socio-economic development of localities and regions is still modest, not commensurate with the potential, advantages and planned scale.

Delegate Tran Nhat Minh raised the question: "I would like to ask the Minister to let us know what specific directions and solutions the Ministry of Finance has had to realize the above policies, creating a driving force for sustainable development for coastal economic zones?"

Responding to questions, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang affirmed: In the Government's regional development orientation, coastal economic zones are always considered key areas, linked to the national marine economic development strategy. The major goal is to build modern coastal ecological economic zones, and at the same time form strong marine economic centers in strategic driving regions.
Currently, 20 coastal economic zones have been established nationwide, becoming growth engines for many coastal provinces. The Minister said that the development of these economic zones is closely linked to urbanization, regional restructuring, and opening up new development spaces.
Giving practical examples, the Minister emphasized: Hai Phong and Da Nang are currently the two leading localities in piloting a modern marine economic development model. In particular, Da Nang City is promoting the construction of a free trade zone associated with Lien Chieu Port.

Regarding regional connectivity infrastructure, the Minister informed that the Government is accelerating the progress of a series of strategic infrastructure projects such as the North-South Expressway, routes connecting the Central Highlands, the Mekong Delta, and coastal routes, creating a seamless connection network between regions, shortening the development gap, and spreading investment benefits.
Regarding the financial strategy, Minister Nguyen Van Thang said: The Ministry of Finance is aiming for a synchronous approach between planning - infrastructure - policy, thereby optimizing the comparative advantages of each region, strengthening complementary links between localities in attracting FDI investment, especially in the processing and manufacturing industries - the field that uses maritime transport as a strategic transportation channel.
