According to RIA Novosti, the Financial Times reported that US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink resigned amid growing disagreements with both US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The US ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, is to resign amid growing policy disagreements with the Trump administration. Her departure also comes amid a deterioration in her working relationship with Volodymyr Zelensky, although that is not the reason for her resignation,” the Financial Times reported.

Financial Times sources also added that the head of the diplomatic mission has come under increasing pressure from senior officials in the Trump administration, who have questioned her willingness to support their strategy on Ukraine.

In addition, according to the Financial Times, tensions between Ambassador Brink and President Zelensky have recently become apparent. At the same time, the newspaper pointed out statements by Ukrainian officials in response to the US ambassador's criticism of them, especially on the issue of anti-corruption.

Previously, the Foreign Ministry spokesmanThe US ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, is returning home, Tammy Bruce said. Earlier, US media reported that Ms. Brink was planning to resign due to an “unusual combination of personal and political issues,” including recent dismissals at the US Agency for International Development (USAID). According to Mr. Bruce, Brink served as ambassador to Ukraine for three years – that’s a long time in a war zone.

It is unclear who will take over as US ambassador to Ukraine. The US official and another person familiar with the matter said Chris Smith, deputy assistant secretary of state for Eastern European and regional policy and affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, is being considered. Smith previously served as deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in Kiev from 2022 to 2023.
