Regarding the information that the US environmental agency recorded that Hanoi has the second highest pollution index in the world, the US Embassy in Vietnam said this afternoon that this information is true but the pollution value was only measured within a narrow range, according to Vietnam Plus.
The above air pollution data was measured by the Air Quality Monitoring Station located at the US Embassy, No. 7 Lang Ha, Ba Dinh District, on the morning of October 5. The measured Air Quality Index (AQI) was 245, making Hanoi the second most polluted city among the measured cities, just behind India's Ardhali Bazar.
AQI is an index that reports air quality on a daily or hourly basis. According to US standards, an AQI between 201 and 300 is considered "very unhealthy."
The US Embassy stressed that the above data cannot accurately reflect the air quality of a large city. Therefore, the measured data only most accurately reflects the area around the monitor, specifically at the embassy headquarters.
